One must do the vocals like green its such a mouthful of lyrics you can't slow down or hold notes. But it works and sounds kinda of enigmatic who cares the synths and bass are so melodic

No need to be rude, dear. Most voices age, and definitely get lower in pitch. Even people that take care of their voices can struggle to hit high notes later in life, especially if they go into semi retirement.

That's not a falsetto. That's his natural gutteral voice. A falsetto is when one exceeds the voice box and the voice is formed from air from the chest and mouthing only. Like Jimmy Somerville. This is his 'real' voice, from his voice box.

It's hard to fathom that Green Gartside is nearly 67. I was 19 in 1985 when this gem charted. This album is a huge part of the formative soundtrack that is my life. Best times, ever.

Totally agree 100 💯 except I was 15- bought this cassette outta the bargain bin at Caldour for like about $3.99 - something just kinda guided me to/ and never been happier since. Even an Al episode of Growing Pains featured a reference to Scritti . CLASSIC 80s GOLD STILL GOIN STRONG 💪!!!!!!

Actually (and as big a fan of Green as I am), one did: Richard Page from Mr. Mister, and I think he's a number of years older. You should hear him do "Kyrie" live, here at KZbin! Still in the same high key (unlike Green here, who dropped the key of the song lower) and he doesn't crack once!

Such a unique vocalist and excellent songwriter. Green is one of my favorite singers. Scritti Politti changed my musical life! I had the pleaseure of interviewing Green Gartside several years ago when he (and Scritti) toured North America. I also met David Gamson and Fred Maher during a Scritti show at the Roxy in Los Angeles. It was a special moment. Kudos to Green for making that happen and long live Scritti Politti!

Scritti Politti changed my life, going to art classes at the Academy of Art the summer between my junior and senior years of high school, taking BART across the bay to San Francisco from the dreadful town that I lived in, I felt so much less alone listening to Scritti Politti on my Walkman. It’s actually comforting to see Green Gartside has also aged, same as me, but sounds just as young as ever before. The girls go crazy!!!!!

When I saw Green/Scritti Politti play in L.A. back in 2006 (amazingly, their U.S. debut concert), Green intro'd the show by informing the audience, "We don't play Perfect Way!" (LOL) - glad to see he FINALLY played it live - it's a tricky song to execute/deliver live.

we saw him perform in the bowery in NYC, he was great, we also met him after! my sister and I are the biggest fans. he was just so nice. it was wonderful being able to see him then sit at a bar and talk for a few minutes. we have wondered where he's been all these years. when we saw him he said he was working on stuff that "if we loved cupid and psyche we would love this stuff" that was a long time ago

Elvis Costello admired his work and had Green Gartside do backing vocals on Costello's I Want to be Loved. I read that Gartside's falsetto stayed intact possibly due to his not touring due to stage fright for decades.

Just so happy to see him playing live again. This song imo was one of the best pop(ear candy) songs of the 80s...the lyrics are deceptively simple... he deserves to bask in some of the fans adulation. I keep coming back and posting on this because I never thought I would see him do this live..
