This seems like a good set up to have from your process of editing and doing check ins to the boundaries you’ve got so you still get paid but you also don’t have to yell at anyone and having contracts so everyone knows what’s happening. I would try the job out myself but I don’t think I’d be cut out for it haha.

This was not just a helpful video, but encouraging with how straightforward and possible it seems. I began my freelance career editing as a teenager and into my early twenties, then switched to freelance film set production work for a couple years. I edited a local promo just a couple weeks ago, and remembered how much I enjoyed it and how easy it came along-- but I have been in imposter syndrome with the idea of returning to that career (with how wild editing seems to be nowadays with retention / pacing techniques). But, like you said, it's all about putting the time into it and the practice. Showing your structure with a step by step process is really valuable, and I've got a list going of steps I will take going forward. I watched this fully and completely, and is on my list to watch again later. Thank you!

Excellent video! I hope this helps a lot of people on their journey to getting into the field of editing or even graphics design. One thing I might add through my experience is to get up and walk around every now and then. Get your blood flowing. It also helps you reset and look at the project with a fresh set of eyes. People get so locked-in on the edit, especially if they are new to the craft, that they tend to not see how much time has passed by. Sitting down for 8 hours makes you sore by the end of the day and you don't want to end a work day like that. Like you said, "I've been at that desk all day."

I love this video so much, I learned a lot thank you :) I am a fellow editor myself, but I do editing retainers for Instagram Reels mainly, and I find a lot of clients will have videos go into the next month because they didn't get to it etc and I find it really difficult honestly to keep up with. This inspired me to maybe just have a structure that if i don't get assets, the videos don't roll over to the next month. Hmm..
