J.D. missed the fact that Dr. Cox was actually annoyed about J.D. spending his time with Petey and not with him...

@feraflauna32385 жыл бұрын
+FrozenVolcano-Right. While Cox wouldn't admit it, he was really hurt that JD fell for Petey's superficial charm the way several others have, and that JD was becoming fast friends with someone that Cox really trusted, opened up to, and considered a good friend. . .only for Petey to turn around and use him as a way to score a lonely, frustrated wife (Jordan). That after everything JD and Cox had been through together at this point, that Cox was really trying to open up to JD and confide in him. . .JD would run off to a scumbag like Petey for a friend. Given that Petey is a massive scumbag, I wouldn't put it past him to realize that JD and Cox were pretty close, and that he was deliberately using JD in order to get under Cox's skin. Petey wasn't just content and unapologetic about the fact he helped destroy Cox and Jordan's marriage but he was willing to also destroy another relationship with someone Cox was clearly close to while he was at it. Because Petey never fessed up to JD exactly why Cox was mad at him. Petey knew full well why but he was willing to string JD along, play up that he was a former protege of Cox's and as the two proteges, they have a connection no one else has. That Petey understood JD and respected JD in a way Cox never could. When Petey probably didn't care one speck about JD. Because when JD decided to side with Cox and break off any connection with Petey, knowing the scumbag Petey is, Petey didn't hesitate to let JD know that Petey didn't even care about him.

It was different with Petey. Petey knew full well who Jordan was, and used information about the fact that they were having problems in their marriage (which he only knew cos Cox had confided in him) to get her into bed. JD had no idea who Jordan was and never would’ve slept with her if he knew.

JD got it wrong--instead of "What were you saying?" which implies he was listening but not paying attention, he went with the slightly more aggressive "I'm sorry, did you say something?". The second one indicates that whatever Cox was saying was just so damn unimportant, JD wasn't sure he heard anyone talking at all. At least it paid off.
@VGamingJunkieVT4 жыл бұрын

I think this whole episode was a whiff. Just randomly writing in a huge part of Dr. Cox's history that never came up again with a guy who never showed up again. If they had followed it up later, if Petey had more charisma than a wet sock, if it had lasting bearing on anyone's characters... any of those would have made this episode's conceit better. As it is, it seems more like weird fanfic in my mind than an actual episode wherein the characters have valuable experiences and/or grow.
