I'm on my first week of work as a Park Ranger. I camped, hiked, hunted, and fished, so it seemed like a logical move from working at a pizzeria. I absolutely love the job!

Hey, I'm looking to maybe become a park ranger, what degree did you get to become one?
@Marcilit2 жыл бұрын
@@malkn1754 You need a Natural Resources degree not sure though if Bachelor or associate is enough but i'd say go for your bachelor. I think i'm gonna do this too i've changed my major like 3 times from programming to video editing to natural resources

This has been my dream job since I was a kid. I’m going into college for Wildlife Sciences. What is a common background for a PR? Do you need to have law enforcement experience? A degree? I would love for you all to make a video explaining how these rangers got where they are today :)

I know for sc state parks a environmental science degree or a degree in parks management will make getting job easier ! and less likely that you have to start at the bottom of the "ranger chain"

Hello! We hope your studies are going well! Many of our park rangers have an associates or bachelors degree in the sciences or park management or a combination of education and experience. You do not need to have law enforcement experience for SC State Parks but other states may have a law enforcement component. Many of our rangers started off as part time employees or assistant park rangers before promoting into full time positions, so check with your local park for available positions! We have a whole series about our staff and their journey to a career with the park service on our website> missions and stories> park service profiles! southcarolinaparks.com/mission-and-stories

Thanks for the view into a small part of a ranger's day. I'd so enjoy seeing a gator wrangling video. :D

I’m currently pursuing sales but have always had a love for nature and would love to work in a job where I can be outside and really enjoy nature however I’m worried about the pay not being necessarily what I want. What do you recommend?

is your happiness more important wealth?

yeah but they give you free housing on the park land most the time you only need to pay rent but you can either pay it to them directly or ask them to take the rent money out of your paycheck. and most make 27k to 70k a year thats good enough for me plus health insurance and all that stuff. if you ask me it is physically challenging job though so some people might not be cut out for it.

Do you guys make citizens arrests at all?
@babiesdontpaytaxes.162 жыл бұрын
no they can make legal law arrest as they are part of the government almost all rangers carry guns on them. they can pull people over on park grounds and can even give them a ticket for breaking rules on park grounds. thats not all they do they also patrol the area cleaning up car paths and trails for hiking. also making sure no poaching or illegal things are happening in the park or area. they are very respectful in all the parks ive been in.
