FAMU has definitely been playing new music in the 5th. They have been opening up their book and adjusting in the SWAC. Find another excuse to hate. As for marches, it’s a heat check/ flex to see what your band fundamentals are about. Most don’t reply with one because they know they’ll get exposed sounding like poo. Versatility 💯

I don't know if I would have given two 5's for first round. The songs were ok. I give SCSU round 2. I reallly wanted to give it to FAMU because I thought that Outstanding was just ok until the 100 played the March. I disagree with the other comments that bands never played Marches in the 5th, but I just don't see it as good song selection that early or in response to that song

I'm glad to see the Marching 101 has grown again and they sound good. FAMU is still FAMing. They sound good. It is funny hearing them play songs like something from Snoop. It's like hearing wrap at symphony, different, interesting, weird or something. There are a lot of bands sounding good this year. I believe however we will be cheated with most of them not traveling to face each other this year.

LOL😂..FAMU will AWAYS play marches. The FAMU culture is that they are the originators and innovators, so conforming to anything that has evolved from them is beneath them. They smugly demonstrate this by not having dance teams, playing marches, etc. THEY ARE FAMU! Any opinion contrary to the standard or culture they believe they created or were the major contributors to, is dismissed in the most condescending way🤷🏾‍♂️

Facts, marches dont belong in the 5th. Most swac bands play marches as a warm up before the zero qtr. Like what entertainment are you getting from a march in a battle. Nobody is battle anyone with a march 😂. If u are there to battle then battle. dont bring a knife to a gun fight🤦. Famu sounds good but boring. Battle got better after the march. Scsu sound good but at times throughout their songs, it came off as high school execution.

Please learn about music before you post. Not everybody can play a march well. Show musicianship before you play top 40 tunes. Famu isn't a dog and pony show, they're legit.

The SWAC kills bands potential. When Famu was smaller there would try to play louder. I was like naw, stay disciplined. SWAC play everything forte, drowning out sections beside you. All wrong notes and all.
