Jerry makes us feel good, a lot. Directed by Martin Scorsese.
Get ready to laugh till you drop as comedy legend Jerry Lewis takes the stage in this classic SCTV sketch! In this uproarious video, Jerry Lewis performs live on the Champs Elysees, and the hilarity begins right from the start at 00:00.
With his trademark humor and charm, Jerry Lewis expresses his pure joy and captivates the French audience with his performance. He'll have you in stitches as he jokes about smoking and the fear of perfection. 😄
But the real comedic twist comes at 01:38 when a 12-year-old studio head, who knows absolutely nothing about Jerry Lewis movies, is expected to bring love and emotion to his work. Spoiler alert: it's not exactly the "good" kind of love and emotion! 😂
Join us for a side-splitting journey into the world of comedy and confusion with Martin Short as Jerry Lewis in this unforgettable SCTV sketch.

This ABSOLUTE wickedest, most spot-on Jerry Lewis impression EVER done! The real Jerry Lewis must’ve been losing his mind the first time he saw this! It fully captures the attitude, egotism, aggression - and yes, talent - of the man. Another dollop of Martin Short genius.

Omg, I'm dying. And just the whole arc of the sketch. Starting with the manic "this is all great!" energy, then as the evening wears on, devolving into the self-pitying lament, followed finally by the grim tearing into his music director. There were a few late Sinatra shows where we got a look behind the curtain as well.

Yeah well he was a total genius of performing things he thought were funny, a very narrow band of comedy - and if you thought what he did was funny too, you were in for a treat, nobody did it better. Problem is, it didn't work for most people. Mostly the French. He also was very good with the technical side of filmmaking, he would be a great drama director if he wanted to...

Oddly, I saw both Jerry Lewis and Martin Short on the same stage, separated by about thirty years. Lewis took his Vegas show on the road with an orchestra, opening act, singers, etc. It was actually a hell of a show, at least to my young eyes. Short, of course, was hilarious. I was hoping he would do his Lewis impression, but I guess he had retired it by then. That’s the problem with impressions- there aren’t very entertaining if the audience doesn’t know who you’re imitating. I can do a pretty good Paul Tsongas, but honestly there hasn’t been a lot of call for that since he dropped out during the primary in ‘92.

My god, he WAS Jerry Lewis!!! Now that he's dead, will Martin take over??? I love his K. Hepburn too. I also like Short's Saturday morning show on NBC circa 1990.

Because he was a bastard with an inflated ego. Anyone who was funnier or better than him, he would instantly get mad at because of jealousy. We can't be better than or "Upstage" a "Legend" or a "Comic genius" such as Mr. Lewis. That might hurt his wittwuh feewings.

Brilliant. Marty Short is tremendous Also, 1 of the rare instances of Short & Dave Thomas. Marty joined summer of 1982 & overlapped Rick, Dave, and Catherine for 3 episodes.
