More with good behavior. But this skit was prophetic. Not to long after, they did a "Leave it to Beaver reunion special" for years. And it was just about as sad as this. And Beaver was just as overweight. Later,, The Disney Channeled picked up a new LITB sit come, but they seemed to intentionally be writing Beaver out of the scripts.

I also don’t think the Millennials and Zoomers have much pull, with The Emmy’s, of which Schitt’s Creek won NINE(!) of those awards, including Outstanding Comedy, Best Actor, Best Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Outstanding Comedy Screenwriting, and Outstanding Comedy Director. I’m not being a smartass. I’m just helping you rule out age, as a determining factor for why you don’t like it. Also, Eugene played his usual character, and Catherine O’Hara did, too. So, it’s not them, either. Chris Elliot, maybe? ...

This is some of the earliest Canadian footage of the original show that made its way, 4, 5, 6, years later into the magnificent Friday night show on NBC, from 1980-83, or thereabouts. Given the careers that they all enjoyed later, this gathering of very young comedic geniuses is CELESTIAL.

In the late ‘70s our NBC affiliate used to show SNL at 10:30, then Monty Python reruns at midnight. That was perfect. Then one night instead of Monty Python, they showed SCTV in its place. I have never seen Harold Ramis without his glasses! How cool is that. But he's quite tall to play the very diminuitive Whitey. (Guess that's why he's only seen sitting down.) Catherine as June = perfect 'helmet' hair!; Thomas an all-too accurate portrayal of Eddie (it's almost spooky). John Candy is great as The Beave. Notice the freckles. And he has Beaver's stupid smile down to a tee in the beginning. Perfect. So awful that he died -- way too soon. R.I.P. Mr. Candy! Cool upload, tks.

I love the way SCTV throws in things you might not notice. For example, do you see how Mrs. Cleaver packs Beaver's lunch in an enormous lunch box which include an entire 1/2 gallon of milk?

1st year for SCTV and the only one with HR in 1977, too bad he's gone along with John Candy but that was 40 plus years ago. I'm getting old but I still like this stuff

Loved SCTY and SNL! They were all talented and funny. My older brother and I, would always watch together and crack up. Great memories, of my teen years. John Candy was a big lovable guy in real life. Shame he died young. RIP John and Harold.

"seems so stiff and staged. And still does." No shit. If anything it would just be even more stiff and staged, and generally terrible, now. Best years for SNL: 76-79, 1982-83(almost completetly due to Eddie Murphy), 87-94, 96-2000. Everything else on Saturday Night Dead *sucked*.

SNL is live so cue cards are invaluable. SCTV was taped so any mistakes in the dialouge were easily fixed by doing another take.

Classic... I loved it when they spoofed old family shows like this. Like when they did the East Side Kids (Bowery Boys) sketch, or even the "Merv Griffith Show," where it was a cross between Merv Griffin and Andy Griffith. He he. Love it. I agree with Bagelbutcher about the 2 types of people in the world. :)
