cook video I’m 56 years old and was certified to dive in the late 1970s they made it sound to us the students that the hydro test was the great big top secret thing back in those days and it always made me wonder how it was done thanks for the video although in my younger days growing up in South Florida i used to sling the tanks around like you did in the video now watching you did it made my back hurt true story as A teenager i used to keep my tanks in my bedroom one day the air conditioning shut off and it blew out 2 pressure reliefs in the valves the only one home was my Mom and i wasnt allowed to keep my tanks in the house after that lol she said it scared the hell out of her because the tanks were shaking btw i always dove with Aluminum tanks so i could get the extra psi on the fills when they were new enough back then i could buy new tanks locally for under 100 dollars and i had some military family that used to go back and forth to Cuba for work so he would sell my older tanks there for 120 dollars which was cheaper than they could buy them in Cuba what it meant for me was i could always get that extra air i currently have over 250 logged dives under my belt as i did live 13 blocks from the Beach and only a couple of hours from the Florida keys

👍I'm the same age with you and the 1st part actually happened the same, the relief or we call in safety valve just blown off and it also scared my Mum who was at home. Got shit from her, thereafter got service the tank and left it at the dive centre storage😂

This is such a great video to share!! Thank you for sharing. I have never actually seen the process going! How often do you service your tanks?

I have a question. I needed to hydro test small 4500 68 inch carbon fiber tank. Now initially this tank's gauge was broken and they told me to get a new gauge or else they would NOT do the hydro test. I did get a new gauge. Two weeks later the hydro test was successful but when they fill up the the the tank. Air was coming out from the New gauge !!! Could it be possible that they screw up my new gauge with the hydro test ??? I need to know this because I feel these guys are hidding something from me. As I am new to this. I just don't want to accuse them without knowing.
