I can’t believe you guys are still finding this old gold. Either you have a lucky spot that keeps on giving or your research is outstanding.

We do a lot of research and I'm only posting the videos where decent Stuff shows up. There's a lot of swingin' and missing before we land on spots like this
@Flukeallday5 жыл бұрын
DetectorComparisons im sure. Went from wet sand, to chest high, to scuba/snuba and that’s even slim pickings nowadays. I’m starting to fixate more on fresh water swimming holes on Long Island and upstate. Tough finding old post cards from upstate, and not much money up there back in the days so gold was scarce. Well, good luck buddy.

I find it hard to believe so many of you treasure hunters never think to put a clip on a Frisbee and use it to dig, scoop, and fan the silt. Perfect tool for the job.

Always love your vids - your hunts - your finds - continued good luck! I have had that "directional prob" too. Usually I hunt underwater when sunny - usually sun is south at all times (I hunt Cape, Ct. and RI spots) One day sun was out clouds were far away - after an hour the clouds moved in quick and blocked sun out - I was out about 8ft of water and bottom flattened out in every direction and was the same depth so I continued on my path as I was getting plenty of good targets - having fun. Air was getting low so thought I should work my way in but which way? I stood upright and was still in 7-8 ft of water. Gave a hard push off bottom to take a peak...I was way out...I'd been going farther out with out knowing it. I bought a compass right after that. I thought of buying a few underwater beacon lights and dropping them using fishing sinkers - they make some inexpensive flashing ones and thought if I dropped one in like 5 ft or 6 ft of water - I would know where to head to- if needed bring a second one. Just a thought.

I love your vids. You should reach out to the folks that make Tarsacci metal detectors and see if you can get one sealed up for scuba. I really dear friend of mine uses one in the Gulf side of FL and has had massive success. I would love to see how well it works for you!

can you show and explain how you use the compass to keep you in the correct area. example: sitting on a dock and show what you are looking for and show the land/water for reference , please so i can understand how you keep yourself in the general area
@DetectorComparisons5 жыл бұрын
Before you go in make sure you know which direction is the shore. The dock is built going directly straight out from the shore so by looking at the compass you can see if you're swimming parallel to shore or not. Going back and forth parallel to shore will allow you to find the old piling remains.

Hi i'm from portsmouth uk, i think your videos are amazing. it would be great if you could do one about how you research your sites and what sort things that make you decide between possible good sites and bad. i'm only 3months into this hobby and any pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks from Paul, Portsmouth UK
@DetectorComparisons5 жыл бұрын
I simply go online and research tell websites that have historical pictures. There's a lot of exploring and you only see videos of the good spots. Much of the time is spent searching for a productive spot

As you folks obviously know a lot about underwater metal detectors I was wondering if you ever tested the Quest X5 detector www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/quest-x5-metal-detector If you have, what were your thoughts about it?

Great video, thanks ! Here’s just an observation. If you watch you video closely, you will see that your “left and right” sweep pattern is not very tight. Meaning, you are probably skipping over a lot of ground, therefore missing stuff. Not meaning to criticize, just saying !
