Hello Mark, thank you as always for your very good videos. Regarding the LUNA 2, I am a bit sad that my old LUNA1 can no longer be updated under Windows 11 via the ancient infrared interface and was therefore recently retired. The LUNA was really good back in 2009 and did its job very well for a long time.

I was looking forward to this review after getting the launch promo email a while ago. I was hoping the screen was at least vaguely like the promo, and while disappointing, it's not quite as bad I feared it could be (based on how many displays I've seen that fail when compared to the marketing versions). One thing that means I now won't be investing in one is the aggressive non-support for any logging that isn't DiveTrak. There's no real reason not to support the alternatives (e.g. Subsurface), but a lot of the manufacturers seem to think that their own apps are somehow at risk if they provide any support. Insane, when they don't make any money on the apps, which to me suggests they may charge in future (freemium model perhaps), or they plan on using your data (a la the book of faces).

How long does the backlight stay lit? Is it always lit like the peregrine? Would you go peregrine or Luna2.0? Thanks

You can choose how long the backlight stays on between 5 and 30 seconds. I prefer the Peregrine, the Luna is better in a few areas but, if you don't mind the rechargeable battery and lack of AI and HR then I'd pick the Peregrine.

Currently diving first generation galileo, uwatec user for 30 yrs, and after 15 years on a sol I am considering a new computer. The shearwater peregrine tx is what the luna 2 ai should have been. Do like the current price over the peregrine, but the diver on the screen just makes it.. not serious, toy-like. The peregrin tx gets me into sol2 territory pricewice, but I don't like that screen. Think I will wait for the new cousteau review

Ah.... when you say "Lick finger to activate the dive computer" - my old Black Uwatec just pop up in my mind. Currently, I use Uwatec Galileo Terra, which is about reaching its end of life after one battery replacement. Now I'm waiting for your review of the Scubapro G3

#askmark I recently bought the Luna 2.0. I'm very happy with its display, but I do notice it's a very conservative computer. Does that have to be with the algorithm set? What are the main differences between ZH-L 16 ADT MB PMG and ZH-L16C+GF PMG algorithms?

Yeah, the algorithm controls how conservative your computer will be. The Gradient Factor version will be the best to fine-tune how conservative you want the computer to be while the ADT leaves it up to the computer to decide. ADT MB PMG focuses on adapting decompression stops to the diver's individual physiological response during the dive. GF PMG primarily relies on a gradient factor to control the rate of nitrogen offloading.

#askmark Hey! Just wondering which BCD you think is better. The scuba pro hydros pro or atomic BC2. Both seem amazing just wondering if you think one has the edge.

As you say: they're both great BCDs. Depending on what's important for you the Atomic is probably "better". The Scubapro is more modular so you can add, remove and replace certain parts. You can customise the Hydros Pro more with colour kits and additional mounting options. The Atomic has a few more upgrades though. All of the external material is laminated so nasties can't soak in and the BCD is basically dry as soon as you leave the water. The Cam-Lok cam band is very quick and easy to adjust and use. You get a choice of inflators that are quick and easy to swap over but, you don't get an inflator as standard in a lot of cases, it's an additional cost.

Who would dive with multiple gas mixes and follow the computer recommendations on which to use?!??

Indeed. If you're diving multiple gasses you should know very well which gas to use and when and be focused on making the switch safely.

Hi Mark - I really hope they don't use the promo material down here in OZ, as they will run fowl of our advertising laws ie, the product cannot be advertised substantially different to the real product - showing an enhanced screen resolution will attract the attention of our fair trading government departments, by way of example Toyota cannot label a Hilux as 'Unbreakable" as that would become a consumer guarantee - the company says it's unbreakable in marketing so it becomes part of the contract for purchase, I 'break' my Hilux and Toyota have to replace it, because they advertise it as 'Unbreakable' - stupid I know but thats what happens....

#askmark What information do you have displayed on your Shearwater Perdix? Do you have it in Nitrox/3 GasNx or OC Tec mode?

I typically use OC Tec for most of my diving now. Center Row I have Compass, PO2, Temp on the left. T1 Center. SAC, GTR, Timer on the right. Bottom Right I have TTS, Ceil, SfGF Every now and then I play about and move things around. But that's what I've settled on right now

I'm annoyed they chose to name it Human Factors Diving. It dilutes and confuses the movement to promote Human Factors thinking in the dive industry that Gareth Lock is working hard on. Actual Human Factors are not about a tech feature. Shame on you Scubapro.
