How to tie a Scud Muffin fly pattern. This fly represents small freshwater shrimp found in almost every stream or lake. Scuds are a great fly to fish in a new stream because they are so widespread and abundant. This is a pattern I developed that is much simpler to tie and has a more realistic silhouette than the other scud patterns out there. Can be tied in any shade of colors from olive, tan, orange, pink, or grey. The key to this fly is the mono thread as ribbing and to tie it chunkier than you want it to be, as it will slim down some when the dubbing is picked out.
