Congratulations, that’s a wonderful Christmas gift. I’ve never used the limit switches on the laser. Most of them do not come with them. Some people won’t start their machine without the limit switches and that’s ok. Just realize it’s not mandatory. You can get started without them and add them later.

@@TimCatZ No, first it only goes in 4 directions (front, back, left and right). Second, you only need 2 limit switches. 1 to know the 0 on the X-axis (left-right) and another to Y-axis (front-back). Third, when you connect the machine to lightburn it will automatically know the working size of the machine and will stop before crashing on the opposite sides of the switches.

I have had it for a week, a spartan engraver (it does not have endstops, which in my opinion are not essential) and with an improved focus system but with a good ultrafine laser that made me understand how much my previous machine (Atomstack a5 pro) was inadequate by comparison. I believe that for value for money it is the best diode engraver on the market, for now.

@@ivanfabian6398 Yep, on the controller board the sockets are labeled X, Y and Z (you'll only need the X and Y) and the wires supplied with the limit switches have the correct connectors on them so they just snap in. The wires then route out the same hole of the enclosure with the rest of them, the X axis kan be fastened along the X wire harness and the Y axis wire can be bundled up (it's too long) or made to length, wichever you prefer. I'm planning on routing all cables through some drag chains I got from Alie but have to design some mounting brackets for them first... Well, I'm certainly thankful you did this video. I've run into two issues before completing the assembly. One is I cannot square the frame. As I tighten the screws, the machine continually pulls out of square by 1/8" on the diagonal. Spacing between the rails however is consistent, side to side and front to rear. The front two corners are reasonably squared. This problem is irritating as I've been a cabinetmaker for almost 46 years and have squared many many cabinets. Other videos appear concerned with the 0,0 left front corner only. To what extreme should I go to squaring the entire frame? Problem 2 was gantry travel on the rails. It simply did not travel easily or smoothly. Thanks to your explanation regarding setting the eccentric adjustment of the wheels, I was able to loosen/adjust the gantry wheels to allow proper motion. Now, on to the belts. Can you advise me on how critical is absolute squareness? I assume the larger the engraving, the more critical the need for square. Thanks for your help.

Most of the diode lasers state that as a rule of thumb you will get about 1000 hours at 100% power. I have also heard as much as 10,000 hours. I do not know exactly. I rarely use 100% power and I have yet to have one die

My S6 Pro z is loose on the gantry . You can grab the laser at bottom and move front to back it wiggles. How do you adjust the 3 wheels on the gantry so it's smooth but rolls back and forth smoothly? I do not see eccentric nut like my shapeoko.

I show hoe in the video on the assembly. There should be two wheels on top and one wheel on the bottom of the gantry. The bottom wheel should have the eccentric nut that you can adjust. Look at my video on the assembly of the Sculpfun S9

Great video. Ive had the Sculpfun s9 for about a month and i have a question. The wheels that ride ontop of the gantry leave a lot of black debris on the top of the gantry, but you cant see or feel any wear on the wheels. Also the stepper motor ontop of the gantry seem to be a bit noisy to me. Is this normal, or is something just not right? It seems to engrave and cut really good, but im kind of afraid it wont last.

I would certainly heck to see if anything is rubbing on the wheels. Also, something may be binding. That is not normal from what you are describing

@@PawPawsWorkShop after looking at some sculpfun s9 forums and seeing all of the different problems people are having, i decided to send it back. Bought from Amazon, so should get a full refund. If so, im going to get an Ortur Laser Master 3 with 10w dual beam. From what ive seen, its a pretty nice machine, though it hasnt been out very long. Im new to this and dont want to give up on it. You and LA hobby guy have been life savers a few times. Keep doing what youre doing and thanks a million.

Hello I wanted to ask what software program you use and with what settings you cut acrylic because it doesn't work for me. Thank you!
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 2 жыл бұрын
The software is Lightburn. The settings will vary depending on the acrylic. The diode laser will not engrave on clear acrylic. It must be black or a very dark color

Hello, I have started to follow you from Spain and I really like your explanatory videos since you do some very complete unboxing that ends with demonstrations of how the machines work and that is very interesting. I bought the same machine this Christmas but after 3 minutes of use, the laser began to lose power and stopped recording, now I am waiting for a new laser module from the manufacturer and I hope to have more luck and start doing work. I have read a lot about this machine but I can't find anything about the continuous working time of the laser, since if a job lasts 2 hours, can the laser be on all this time or does it have to pause every 10 minutes to cool down the laser and that does not burn? Greetings and have a good day.

Great video there! I'm wondering if you can help me out with a little problem I have. I just recently bought the Sculpfun S6 Pro and right out of the box it worked perfectly with Lightburn. Then I tried it with LaserGRBL software where I think I might have over written the settings of a previous board and when I returned to Lightburn again the work area was in a complete mess, the laser head would go out of bounds and hit the rails. How can I restore the Sculpfun 400x410 settings? Is there a file I can download. Thanks a lot

OMG, this is not very helpful at all. You don't show which screw you are using, or which piece you are using as you do it. You don't even show each screw that you put in. Showed 2nd t-screw not even close to 90 degrees when tightening 2nd spot on belt. ***This is basically how to put a screw in a hole, not which screw and which hole.

Want to buy one of these? There are other suppliers than Ban99ood. Choose your supplier wisely! I tried to order a S9 unit through them and got some nasty deception: Order processing forever despite the fact that the item is in stock and despite the tag proud boasting "5 days delivery", unability to cancel the order after 15days of waiting, even if not shipped yet... Time lost in useless chat with bot-like humans. Had to lay a claim by my credit card company, hoping to get money back. A total shame. Be wiser than I was.
