I realize this is a bit aged, but I am happy you made this video. Though I have the K40, I am considering investing in a diode laser as well. This is fairly inexpensive and would be a good fit for my purpose. Thanks for taking the time to create this video!

I do not use Laser GRBL. Lightburn is far superior.

Seems like a decent laser for the price. Not that I need another one. Thought I would give you and update on the Longer 5 10 Watt not cutting with Lightburn yet worked with the touch screen. I did a speed test and they both were the same on a test cut. So that left power. I did a $$ in the console to check 30 and 32. They were set like they should be but Lightburn had S-345 instead of S-1000 It works just like you said. Cut at 300/100 with one pass. Thanks you for your help in this and all the other help I notice you have been giving to others. Gary

In Lightburn, Edit/device settings/turn on enable laser fire button and laser on when framing. You may need to restart Lightburn after the changes.

Roger- thanks for the video. Your opinion, please... do you see any advantage(or disadvantage) to adding a little dab of compound like neversieze on the screw threads before assembly? I like to use a bit of diaper rash ointment on screw threads (which is primarily zinc oxide and cod liver oil) to prevent galvanic corrosion over time- especially with dissimilar metals like stainless into aluminum. But in this case it might be a good thing to have the screws locked up, maybe?

Never had any issues with the lasers having a seized screw or bolt, so don't add anything. I did have one laser where the X axis stepper motor screws kept working loose, so used Loctite on them, finally!

Safety goggles recommendation? I have a pair, but they don't fit well over my eye glasses.

amzn.to/3FcKGLd is what I use. Not cheap, but fit well, are comfortable, and listed for this type of laser.

Thanks. I guess that $80 price tag was the motivation I needed. I had purchased a slightly nicer pair of safety glasses when I got the laser which fit great, but not over my glasses. I just pulled out the cheap pair that came with the laser and realized the temples are adjustable. Extended the temples and achieved a comfortable fit right over my regular eyeglasses.
