Btw. any advantages with voxel sculpting? I am ZBrush user for many many years, but i am interested, maybe i will try 3d coat (Just for fun)

Hey, Karel! The good thing about it is that you don't need to worry about topology, and you can easily add holes and flying pieces with voxels, make booleans and stuff. Then you can switch to surface mode and still keep auto-subdivision on (like sculptris pro) to add details as you like, or not. In surface mode I think you have better control of brushes. I also use Zbrush and Blender, but I think 3dCoat performs better with these autosubdivision tools. For me, I like the clay feel of 3dC, but it is harder to create smooth surfaces as in Blender or ZB.

@@danielaubert5608 Thanks, Daniel. I had some trial versions of 3D Coat in the past, on different pcs, just because retopo function which that sw should do well. And which few of my friends and some guys from Pixologic use. But I have never tried that retopology there :D you know, may sws, many possibilies, but sometimes people just install something.. and unistall after few days. Or maybe its just me. But I will try. So it sounds interesting. Its sounds like fusing from Modo with sculptris and dynamesh together (myabe). I have read some info about that. Sure i will just try it there. Thanks for the answer.

nothing works quite like voxels do and i'm absolutely thrilled a the results. it feels like I'm drawing no tech concerns

Very impressive sculpting style! It would be good to have a slow demonstration of the brushes you work during the process. Such a demonstration would be very helpful for those who are struggling to gain an in depth knowledge of 3DCoat's sculpting abilities.

How do u get your brush to be so crisp? Both you and rygaard have these brushes that sculpt so crisp without any mushiness

Hi there Daniel, I'm trying to learn 3D Coat and found your video. I wanted to know what brushes you are primarily using since you are using a full screen view that hides the tools. I've been having the best luck with Wet Clay, Usual Clay and Thick Layers on the voxel side and Surface: clay fast and pinch on the surfacing tools side. Pressure seems to be all over the place and often has to be turned down pretty low to get accurate/subtle results.

Hi Jon. This video is outdated, since 3DC now uses new clay engine. Try my new videos where I keep the interface on. But I mostly use the wet clay brush with an specific brush head (squareish), then you can play around with the brush setting, maybe looking at these new videos. Keep messing with settings till you get to understand what they do and find you desired settings.

Hey Daniel! Thanks for sharing your process! I'm curios about soft you use. Why you sculpt in 3D Coat instead Blender? (I just see that you used to sculpt in Blender). Is any major reasons why you choose 3D Coat after Blender?
@danielaubert56083 жыл бұрын
Hey, glad you like it. I still use Blender, but 3DCoat has more of this clay feeling to its brush engine. It is very good to create these organic rough shapes, and it has voxel sculpting, which is quite peculiar. But I prefer Blender for creating shapes, adding objects, navigating... it is much more user friendly, haha. So, they are tools. You have to pick each tool for its best use. I will keep using both softwares, they are great in their own way. I also use Zbrushcore now and then.

How did you get your brush strokes to look like clay? I just purchased the new 3d coat but it looks nothing like yours.
@danielaubert5608 Жыл бұрын
Try watching my newest videos. They show the brush settings better. You have to play around with brush tips, settings, and see the difference from surface to voxel mode.

Good stuff! When you add to the mesh like the tail do you have to remesh the whole thing to make it one thing or is it a seamless process?
@danielaubert56082 жыл бұрын
It's voxels so it is seamless. But as soon as I change to surface sculpting it remeshes. Try 3dcoat, it is crazy and fun

3D Coat is an amazing soft, but the pose system... I'm sorry, but is super primitive. The skeletal joints system of Mudbox is much better...The people on Pilgway should do something similar.
@danielaubert56082 жыл бұрын
Yeah, pose system is not good. Don’t know about Mudbox, but Blender and Zbrush are definitively better than 3dC in this regard.
@sergiomengual2 жыл бұрын
@@danielaubert5608 Sadly, I am abandoning Mud, due the stupid development policies of Autodesk. But definetively, the skeletal pose system of Mud, is much better than Blender,(talking about sculpt mode), 3D Coat,(simply similar to Trans Pose in Z), and better than Z, inclusive.
