Very good job! You have talent 👏 My only regret is surely that the video is time-lapse. It hurts the eyes and we lose the pleasure of looking. Especially since the background sound is chosen as to relax and the visual is quite the opposite

I just did some research on the Gluhschwanz: It says that the dragon would make sure that witches would feed it sweet milk, while it would pay them either money or grain, it would set their chimney on fire if they did not meet his correct amount of sweet cow milk! It is also quite wholesome; it makes sure that the employers of farmers or the employers did not do their labours and stole eggs and corn, it would set their roofs on fire!
@ayrek0i3 жыл бұрын
Woahhh that’s surprisingly wholesome haha. Lovely fact to learn :D

Hm it's quite a wierd case to be honest. Because normally a dragon would be killed sooner or later. And be overall far more evil. Plus the creature is not so well known comparable to different dragons in our mythology. Especially since I live where its story was told the most and I never heard of it.

I love how you chose to portray these dragons. Often times you see them shown as noble creatures. In german folklore however they are usually wretched and vile monsters who spite God like the snake from which they descended. You captured that perfectly in your sculpting and the Glühschwanz in particular looked astonishing.

I like how one of them looks like it doesn’t eat enough. A dragon of immense size that lives on land would surely have problems finding enough food to properly sustain muscle, so what food it does get appears to go to the important body areas. Whilst the other dragon, which I assume is more adapted to water, seems pretty accurate as well. The food diversity in the oceans and waters tend to be bigger, and the animals tend to clump making it easier to get food as a water dweller. I’m jealous of these sculptures 😢😢 I may use them for art references though, they’re beautiful

@@jasminpafina9884 this looks like it was done with polymer clay, which doesn't dry out as bad, and usually has to be oven cured. What I found interesting was the wings. That looks like it was semi cured? (Leather hard for normal clay) wondering if that was semi cured using an air gun or something? I haven't used much polymercay, so it was really neat seeing how you can still smooth it with water. Awesome job.

Dragons in general are an interesting part of culture..because there are myths all over the world about them and with amazing consistency to the point that they were really real at one point....but the 6 limbed dragons on all 4s with wings weren't evolutionaraly possible from earth..so those ones probably originated elsewhere. But a cool thing to study for sure.
@Emily-ye1rj3 жыл бұрын
If dragon-like beings existed at the same time as humans, I'd think that maybe it was something like a wyvern at that stories of winged lizards could have changed over time from that to a more literal "like that lizard over there, but big and with wings"

Eh yeah simple explanation. Dinosaur bones where a thing in the middle ages. And when someone finds them he wants to know what that is. This combined with other things they didn't understand. (shooting stars as example) plus some religion and you have glühschwanz. Possibly the only nice dragon in German mythology and so the only dragon who didn't got murdered for there blood (or corpse in general. Hearts for magic stuff. Blood to make you invincible. The scales and teeth are surely useful for something. And the meat you can eat like your forefathers.)
