The original nursery rhyme was not to be all “cutesy” like it’s sometimes portrayed. If you think about Ring around the Rosey was based off the Scarlet Fever and also used during the Plague, the Pied Piper in towns square was actually a mad man who killed children. The list goes on. It’s only in the past 40-50 years that nursery rhymes have taken on a totally different concept. Your very creepy crooked man turned out very neat.
@yamisart2 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that creepy nursery rhymes seem to be an international thing. A German one for example ends with "and so God wants, you'll wake up again."
@kateworkman9212 жыл бұрын
I'd guess 70-80 years, because there's no way that different nursery rhymes became cutesy mainstream things only a few years before I was born.
@gravelycritical2 жыл бұрын
Ring Around a Rosey one is a common misconception. The rhyme dates back way further than than many think, and originally started as just a game for children. One of many similar ones. The connection to the plagues and fevers were not made until the 17-18th century. As for the Pied Piper, that one is always pretty clear. But any actual records were lost in the 17th century. But it is known to have dated back to the 14th.

I love seeing these horror-themed sculptures. I love being able to see these horror movie monsters come to life at a smaller scale. Besides the humanoid monsters from these movies, there's also this really interesting one from the 2017 movie "The Ritual" called Moder, which is a Jotunn inspired by Norse mythology. Even if you don't sculpt it, the movie itself is definitely worth checking out

You said the begining of the poem. Heres the full poem: There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse And they all lived together in a little crooked house He met a crooked woman and he found a crooked preach They had a crooked marriage on a crooked little beach They had some crooked children and they lived a crooked life The crooked man, the cat, the mouse, the children and the wife They were happy for a number of crookedly long years Lived a life of crooked happiness, no worries and no fears Until one day the crooked wife upset the crooked man He yelled a crooked yell and then he hit her and he ran The crooked man came again at the stroke of twelve That was when their crooked life became a living hell There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile And when he killed his wife and kids he smiled a crooked smile

For those who actually care no, what Draw 2Death posted is not the original rhyme. the original rhyme is the one that Ace of clay said in the beginning of the video, that was the first printed version by James Orchard Halliwell and no, the rhyme is not about a murderer it is actually believed to be about Scottish General Sir Alexander Leslie and politics regarding parliaments of England and Scotland. It's only in recent times have peopled decided to change the rhyme into something more sinister. Not every rhyme is sinister, the crooked man is just a political based rhyme nothing more, nothing less..

Oh wow I’ve never heard the end of this only the first verse! I love it even more now 😈
