Today we're sculpting Tsuyu Asui aka the rainy season hero - Froppy from My Hero Academia in Blender 3.0
Sorry for the video being so long, but I decided to model her twice in two different costumes. So if you think about it, it's like you're getting TWO videos this week! MHA is my son's favorite anime and we watched the first few seasons together last year and are waiting on the next! Froppy's our fave, so here I am trying my best to model her :P
This isn't an actual tutorial. I just talked over footage of the sculpt being sped up a bunch. "P

Hey, I don't know if anyone has informed you of this yet, but here's a tip about retopology that I rarely see talked about it. Everyone always talks about the shrink-wrap modifier, but I've always found it to be extremely intrusive and prefer the snap to face tool. If you, like me, enjoy having control over faces but would like to not have to press every single vertex, navigate up to the snap settings and activate the checkmark for the "Snap Individual Elements" option. Now, every time you select something, this includes double clicking for loop select, box select, anything of your choice, it'll snap those vertices right onto your mesh as if you'd clicked each and every one of them. Seriously, NOBODY ever talks about this, I don't know if it's some forbidden knowledge that's only shared by the Blender Elder Gods not meant for mortal consumption or something, but in the hundreds of hours of tutorial content I've watched I cannot recall a single mention of this as part of a workflow. Since I've been shamelessly following along with this video to see what I can take from your workflow and add to my own, I figured it was only neighborly to throw that out there.

I just love how Froppy was suppose to just be one of the other Side characters but she became so popular even beating out Ochaco in poles for most popular Female characters. Just shows when making characters sometimes you can predict which characters would become the Fan Favorites.

@@hehefunnysharkgoa9515 haha, well he took the right approach. He learned how to work with the blender interface and tools first, then focus on tutorials for box modelling (easiest modelling technique), and then progressed to other more advance tutorials. Honestly, its the process being done in the right order that makes it fun because you have more "WINS" & "SUCCESS" as oppose to feeling defeated from not re-creating some advance sculpture right off a couple of tutorials lol. But yeah, I totally agree. It looks fun watching him sculpt/model. Kind of inspiring lol

Hello hello, fellow blender artist here. I dunno if you know about this one modifier called the shrinkwrap modifiers. It's a very helpful modifier if you like to snap objects to surfaces. The huge benefit to this one is that you can change the offset of how far above or below the surface you're modeling. Another huge benefit is that you can add a shrinkwrap modifier over a subsurf modifier and the new vertices created will be taken in account to snapping them to the surface. You can also parent different vertices to different vertex groups and offset them with two different shrinkwrap mods. I use this modifier in every project of mine and I especially use it when doing re-topology work on a model. Go check out a video on it, I think it will really help you. K love your stuff man, keep up the amazing work and the progress!

one of the biggest take aways from the video for me who hasn't dedicated myself to learning blender is that for these renders you just make the body or anatomy and then pose and create the clothes after. I'm sure there's a way for cloth physics and stuff that games use to be added so you can make it easier on yourself or something and get the "default outfit" to conform with the poses. also the modeling of like little indents like on her goggles were pretty cool, I kinda wanna see you attempt some clothes that use it way more and go for a "hyper realism" look. what comes to mind is stuff like dmc 4 and 5 Dante's jacket and all that. so I don't know if you care to maybe mess around with a more complicated or intense character or even piece of clothing but the ideas here. Still I applaud you for simply learning this much.
@TailsThewolfcat
@TailsThewolfcat 2 жыл бұрын
I've tried using the cloth modifier to make clothes but it's not good for a stylized model. using cloth physics is a headache and only good for special circumstances (pillows, curtains, blankets, ect) for characters, it's faster to just sculpt it on the model yourself.

Blender does have like autosave temp folders, you have to check open a thing as it’s like “hidden files” so you could have only lost like 10 minutes. Also save often! An hour is too much my man. Also nice models and nice video, I started to get into 3D sculpting after your video. My progress is a lot slower but I’m getting there!

Is there any particular reason why you posed them first and then began to model the outfits? I feel like it would make more sense to do that first so that they can be posed after 🤔Or are they still rigged in their current poses? I find hard to understand workflow using Quad Remesher. Did you use quad remesher than joined hands and used it again? Also, after quad remesher do you simply add subdivide mod or srinkwrap or do you just shade it smooth ;c Any chance you could answer or even make a video showing this part of process more indepth?
