I appreciate that now drag and drop import is possible for SCUMMVM, as I had some trouble with automatic imports. I prefer doing everything manually. Thank you! ❤🎉🎉🎉❤

I think a lot of people like Launchbox setting up all the game folders but want to move the default games folder to a different location. Adding platforms one by one is a solution, but it does require adding them one by one. Thanks for the video, gonna set up some scummVM now.

Launchbox is amazing, would love to see a version that works on XP.

Strangely I just re-imported my ScummVM games this past weekend. Previously I was using the stand alone ScummVM emu and a launchBox plugin to import the files correctly. However there is no longer any need for anything other than the LaunchBox auto import.

For just the LucasArts games, I'm probably using Aaron Giles's DREAMM emulator more often now, but I do appreciate SCUMMVM for stuff like running Sierra's Apple IIgs titles.

What are your thoughts using the method in your video vs. using a project like eXoScummVM, which has all the games already set up in LaunchBox? I know eXo has gotten permission to use LaunchBox in his projects, but I never see you guys mentioning them. Either way, yet another great tutorial. Thank you so much and please keep them coming. 🙂

Personally I'm keeping the EXO projects separate to my main install (and I'm also not merging those with each other), it was getting messy trying to combine, especially since the EXO projects have the "installed games" method where they arn't technically ready to play. In answer to your question I would say that's the main difference to the two methods; the EXO project requires per game install before being playable and is more like a full reference set (is more compressed and efficient as a fullset since you only unpack when you play) whereas this video shows adding already extracted game folders into Launchbox as ROMS using the LB auto-import wizard and they are ready immediately like most other ROMS would be - likely you won't be importing every game that SCUMMVM can run as the EXO project tries to collect and things like artwork and extras won't be as perfect. Also worth mentioning that the EXO version won't necessarily work with the latest SCUMMVM updates going forwards, for reasons he rants about on his youtube... So you want to keep that isolated from a setup where you might update SCUMMVM. Finally, some of these games you might prefer to run using other methods (i.e dosbox or DREAMM or a GOG repack), so if you don't want duplicate games in your collection, that's also something to consider.

@RichTeaChannel Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I had problems merging the eXo projects into my main build too but finally eventually figured it all out and got it working well. But you have a good point about both methods being very different. eXoScummVM uses a ton of batch files whereas it looks like this method launches the game itself. I'll have to give this method a try and see how it compares. Thanks.

EXO is installed seperate and I don't mix it with my regular LB. I see them as different systems and approaches. For example, I bought Sanatorium on GOG and imported it into LB, to play it via the SCUMMVM platform. EXO is too convoluted and many titles are missing in general. For me, EXO is a great archive and I use it for historical browsing. I only seldom play anything via EXO. Additionally you have to first install a game to play it on your system. I love having SCUMMVM as a platform in LB, if only because for the search of a title in the global search of LB. I love to see, if a game is also available for other platforms. Seing the different box arts, screenshots and videos and than choosing the version to play is simply amazing. ❤

I just installed ScummVM on my Raspberry Pi 400 and had it mass detect my folder of ~230 games, but in the ScummVM interface there was no way to stop it importing EVERY language version of the games, so i spent an hour manually removing the 100+ redundant games in the ScummVM UI. What plans are there to port LaunchBox to the RPi?

help! I'm not able to import my multi-platform games correctly with this guide. I'm on 13.15 and I'm getting multiple instances of the ROMs appearing. My ROMs are in a different folder than my Launchbox installation. I've tried manually importing one and multiple... Help?

You can watch the MAME tutorial video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGGWomWcdtefZ7c But if you still are having issues, I'd head over and ask on the forums, making it clear all the steps you've already tried, and what is happening: forums.launchbox-app.com/

Hi, would Lauchbox make sense even if all my games are made for Windows? Basically what I want to do is have them organized with corect metadata and all that. At the moment I have a folder named games on my desktop and in there I put shortcuts to all my games but I think that with Launchbox it might look better.

Absolutely, we support multiple storefronts for games on Windows such as Steam, GOG, Epic Games, Amazon and more. You can easily import Windows-based games across all these storefronts, organise them within LaunchBox and launch them from a unified interface.

Scummvm website says: "ScummVM is a complete rewrite of these games' executables and is not an emulator." And 10 seconds more into the video, another incorrect fact. Ludvig Strigeus is ludde. Ender is James Brown. And ScummVM uses no ROMs
