I used the same trick to get the HR blue aluminium 43mm shocks on. Works pretty good, over time, the dust and vibration ate away at it. Recently, I got out my daughter's bead set, and found some beads that fit perfect. Been working good so far. Thank you for the video, I'm gonna have to try some of those out.
@BullgearRCvideos4 жыл бұрын
The beads sound like a good idea, may have to look into that. Thanks for watching 👍
@MrsRabbit84 жыл бұрын
Oh, i forgot to mention, i put a screw through the bead, and put it on a dremel, then used a file to make a better shape. The same can be done with the suspension link ends. Cut the end of the link off, put a screw through, and spin it in a dremel, get the right size and shape and bamm, you've got a pivot ball. (Sometimes the shocks pivot balls get lost, good luck sourcing one, so...) Thanks again, I love your videos, you have a relaxing voice.

I'm glad I found this video lol I hate these shocks I think they perform worse than stock, but with your little tricks I think I can make them something I like. I won't give up on these old man emu I love the way they look. I actually mounted the shocks in front through the upper hole that holds the body mount piece and in the rear I flipped the 2 little pieces where the shock bolts to and I mounted the rear through the upper hole for a body post.
@BullgearRCvideos4 жыл бұрын
The way I did them actually works pretty good for crawling. It is a little different to run without springs like I am, but it works for my rig. A lot of what I do in videos is just me experimenting and seeing what I come up with. Sometimes it works, lol sometimes not. But they are sweet looking shocks for sure and look pretty good on my yellow truck. Hope you find a way to make them work for you👍

@@BullgearRCvideos did you try putting shock grease in the body? I just got them on my truck tonight using your heat shrink protip but I realized the movement is not smooth and catches in certain spots. The shock grease really improved the dampening but it still catches now and then. Maybe there are burrs inside the body?

With a full droop set up most people will take the springs and actually stick them on the other side in the shock, like over the shock shaft but still inside the reservoir so it still has the springs to help with crawling

I will be doing some experiments to see what is going to work for me. The main objective was to achieve a good ride height in this video with the old man emu shocks. And I agree, I have seen some people say they don't run springs, but it seems to soft like this

Thanks brother, I need to get some running videos done. I have three trucks with untested mods at this point. But where I am currently at, I just don't find any good spots. Maybe my next job will find me with some decent places to crawl👍

A full droop is when the shocks are fully compressed at ride height

Those Shocks seem to be a better option than many for these Micro Crawlers. Good insight, Lee!! 👍👍 One day I'll be able to afford one of those Micros, and join in all the fun y'all are having. I've used Heat Shrink Tubing as Shock Bushings in 1/10th Scale. I guess it's a useable idea for all Scales! Please stay SAFE! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙

Those look a lot nicer than seeing the spring on the outside I think. I've found out that with the Hot Racing shocks I had to use washers for spacers, lost one of them O rings before I realized. Your giving a lot of good advice whenever mine comes in. Ordered July 25th on back order, just looked earlier, should be in soon. Like the 'garage'! Poster board?
