I love the idea that Scylla's the creature's tongue like a lure. A lot of fish who live so far down that the ocean is pitch black use a lure to capture prey since the prey will swim towards what they think is food.

Idk much about the myth of Scylla, but I've had the thought, was it not possible to use the Sirens as the bait for the 6 heads of Scylla? I understand Oddy might actively want to take revenge against Eurylochus for opening the wind bag but even so idk I feel like it could work, keeping some alive to use to slow down Scylla instead of his own men. But again, idk much about Scylla, she might certain dietary requirements that would make it so she wouldn't eat the Sirens, maybe a Siren intolerance.

Him dodging out of the way to let scylla eat the torch carrying soldier perfectly encapsulates whats going on. Because while it can be argued that this was their only way home, without torches it wouldve been random 6 people. With torches however, its 6 people that arent odysseus.

No one's mentioning that Odysseus looks away from Eurylochus when Eurylochus informs him that something is approaching. Eurylochus is holding a torch. One of the 6 torches to signify the six meant to be eaten. He was expecting Eurylochus to be eaten, but instead, Eurylochus drops his torch to raise a sword. In dropping his torch, he defends another man with a torch. We see exactly two people be eaten without torches. One before he defends this man and one right after (only one torch is dropped by the pair eaten after).

Perfectly captured Oddyseus's heavy heart when sacrificing 6 men. His first time throughout the entire like 12 year journey he sacrificed men because its 6 men or the entire ship and it was haunting him before he even made the call to do it. God his expressions are phenomenal.

What I don’t think a lot of people noticed is that in response to learning of Eurylochus’s betrayal Odysseus absolutely tried to get him killed by Scylla and only because he passed off the torch did he survive.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's the case because in Jorge's livestream Eurylochus was holding a torch, so I'm pretty sure Odyssus was acting out on betrayal and anger. And like you said the only reason he survived was because he either dropped it or passed it to someone else. :')

Oh my godddd I have so much I wanna geek out abt!! First of all, the animation here at 0:16 ?? Fucking amazing. I love how restless Odysseus seems! It subtly shows that he’s a lil nervous abt sacrificing the six men, but he’s desperate and is willing to do whatever it takes to make it home And then at 0:21 HIS EYES!! The tiny shifting of his pupils captures his emotions so well, but you barely get a glimpse of it before it’s gone 0:45 I just rlly love ur design of Odysseus here. His hair, his expression - ughhhh he’s so pretty and so tortured I wanna put him in a waffle maker The moment between 1:13 and 1:20 ? BEAUTIFUL. I love the shift in Ody’s expression, the visible struggle between shock and resentment, I LOVE IT SO MUCH The entire sequence of Scylla ripping the men apart is just,, wow. Actually WOW. Y’know, it didn’t occur to me until just now, but he was desperately trying to think of an alternative to sacrificing 6 men, until eurylochus tells him that he’s the reason Odysseus isn’t home with his family. After that Odysseus stops caring, he doesn’t tell his men to light 6 torches, he tells eurylochus, knowing he’d hold a torch himself.
