The WS is louder starting at a lower rpm %. The whine noise starts at 60%, but at 50% and below it's not too bad. I run my radiator fans around 1k for 120mm fans and 800ish for 140mm fans...no more than 1k at idle for any radiator fans. Case fans are running at 800.

Yeah I realized it was noisier than I thought. Definitely better airflow performance, but it sounds like cheaper loud fans at some speed.

Great review! I don't think the wonder snail is "unusable" at max fan speed. I have a reference rx 5700 xt set to run at 80 percent max using wattman in adrenalin. now that's noisy! but i don't mind and just wear my headphones while gaming. id rather have a "cool" gpu (or pc component, max gpu edge temp my 5700 xt reaches is 80c) than be conservative with fan speeds and compromise component longevity. ive been building PCs since the 90s and one thing I learned, is to manage your expectations and accept compromises. i love my mugen 5 black equipped with dual 120 wonder snails and 2 arctic p12s doing exhaust duties on the same rig.

Thanks! That is a good point about compromises. Everyone has different levels of what they consider to be acceptabe. It also depends a lot on your ambient noise.

Not officially, but yes! It's a cork panel that I cut to size. It should function more like a diffusion panel.
