I'm a proud (and new) owner of the Eventide Rose (and Blackhole). You are spot on... so fun to play with and totally goes in interesting directions with the filter and modulation. It does remind of the Lexicon PCM 42 in the sound quality.... not sure why, but it's hard to pry myself away from the unit! Love it... the Blackhole is similar in set up and "play" ability.... from subtle to gross...

Loving the Dig and the new intro! Can never have too many delay vids! Great in the loop of a high gain amp with the mix down low for a reverb effect. 👍

Rose is amazing. One of my favorite delay pedals. It’s the one of the best sounding delays with drive and fuzz pedals. Doesn’t get too washy or overbearing if you don’t want it to while still being deep and present. It also becomes much more versatile when you connect an external dual or triple switch. Great piece of gear.

Agreed! It's such a sleeper because it's not stereo but it's an inspiration machine

You always have such nice clean tones. Beautiful delays. So pristine. I’d love to see how the Digit compares. I liked unit 1 especially on the distortion tones

Thankyou! I've got a video lined up comparing the digit to a few other racks (SDE, Intellifex, PCM, Eclipse) which should be super fun

Yo dude, love your channel! I’m running a dig in stereo going into 2x Roses in w/d/w. Dig set to stereo ping ping and 2nd line on dotted 1/8 interval, I’ve found if you sync tap tempo across the three units, then hit 2x on just one of the Roses, you have a heavenly Lukather Circular/Pan meets Andy Timmons Halo on acid thing going on. Completely 3D swirly gooey loveliness. I’ve had a big rack with 2x pcm70s, an h3000 and 2x d1500s previously, which I moved on and regretted, but the dig/rose setup is no poor relation. If you ever get a 2nd Rose it’s well worth a play! #bringontheschmoo

I've thought about that a lot actually - the Rose really gets close to the iconic rack delay tone in such a convenient form factor. GAS!

I think the Roland has more percussive/dimensional repeats. The Strymon sounds great but it’s just a bit more flattened out on the leading edge of the repeat to my ears.

I’m digging the DIG and SDE I’m with you on the DIG loved the video you did on that pedal awhile back. I need to get one of those DIG’s for sure. I’m going to have to look up the difference between the SDE 1000 and SDE 3000 since those we’re King Edward’s choice of delay unit’s?!Rock on Leon 🤘
@LeonTodd3 жыл бұрын
3000 had a longer max delay time and could store the position of mod/feedback controls. 1000 sounds the same for less money :p
@oldnikix2 жыл бұрын
@Leon Todd: Would you say the Eventide Rose is more Hi-Fi and Ethereal sounding than the Strymon DIG (24/96)?
@LeonTodd2 жыл бұрын
The Rose uses sample rate modulation and has an analog filter section so it has a little more grit and character than the 24/96 mode on the DiG which is very hifi.

@kevinp_253 жыл бұрын
Great video as always. Is there a reason they should sound the same though? Is the Dig modeled on the SDE? I thought Strymon usually kinda did their own thing.
@RyanMaziarz3 жыл бұрын
The 12-bit mode is Strymon's take on the mid 80s rack delays, yeah - they have a paper about it here: www.strymon.net/dig-digital-delay-technology-white-paper
@kevinp_253 жыл бұрын
@@RyanMaziarz Whew that’s in depth. Didn’t read it all but I’m still seeing that it’s Strymon’s take right? I mean...we aren’t expecting it to sound absolutely identical, correct?

Yeah the DiG specifically aims to cop a few specific 80's rack delays. It's mighty close!
