If anyone is curious the Barber setting is in reference to a barber pole that spins and looks like it's endlessly going up or down. The name of this audio illusion is called a Shepard Tone. There are videos on KZbin that demonstrate this sound if you are curious. Using the barber pole setting would remove the phaser's modulation going up and down and instead makes the effect sound like it's only moving in one direction.

I always wonder why so many turn a phaser or chorus too fast it loses the beauty of the effect. This puppy does a wide stereo chorus that is just amazing, barber is either a constant rising or falling phase that does not modulate back and forth, very cool indeed. The ENV phase effect is utterly amazing. What a killer pedal!!

Purple Rain used a Roland Dimension D SDD-320. If you want it in pedal form you can use a new Boss Dimension C Waza and use the SDD-320 mode (push selector 4 or 3 and 4 together) that gets you as close to that sound as any pedal I've heard.

Yea, often over abused, but a lovely effect that can be dialled back to give just that 'certain something' to your sound. If it's subtle it can just sit there giving movement without anyone realising it's an effect. I guess the same as a lot of other fx tones that can be too in your face. I'm seriously considering this one to join my raft of Strymon pedals... such quality and just so useful: Thorpy for the front end and then all the delays and modulations coming from Strymon; so nice. I'd love for the guys to do a pedal board appreciation of this: Thorpy Fat General into parrallel Fallout Cloud and The Dane, going into a nice modeler with Strymon El Cap, Timeline, Zelzah, Cloudburst and Ultraviolet.

I recently traded my Chase Bliss Audio Brothers Analog Gainstage for a Sunset... The Sunset makes the Brothers sound like crap. The Brothers is pretty good but the Sunset is on another level.. Seriously, in every single category it blows the Brothers out of the water. And it has a built-in noise suppressor that cleans up your signal annnd it has a bright switch that rolls off highs or boosts them, or is neutral in the middle... It's fantastic. When most drive pedals are $150-200, and the Sunset is essentially six pedals in one with bonus features, $300 is a good deal.

A little disappointed that you couldn't get the envelope to really work. The MIX control has to be set at 12 o'clock so that the dry and wet signals are maxed. If you set everything on the 4 stage side to 12 o'clock it really gets the fullest phaser auto-wah.

In our secular age, it's sometimes hard to remember that California's founding fathers were often very religious people. You can find one biblical reference on a Northridge street sign. Zelzah Avenue is one of the most colorful street names in the San Fernando Valley. Bill Robertson, director of L.A.'s Bureau of Street Services, says it's also one of the oldest streets. "It was part of a 19th century wagon route from San Fernando to the old Hawk Ranch, which became the town of Zelzah, which is now Northridge." Zelzah was a depot town for the Southern Pacific railroad. The name "Zelzah" comes from the Bible, but scholars disagree about its meaning. Some say it's the place where Samuel told Saul to go meet a couple of guys who had news about some lost asses. Other scholars say the name simply means noon. Given the street's railroad roots, either translation would be appropriate.

Neither have I ever really been into phasers, but this... This sounds amazing and huge. A sound that can either be subtle or big while still not too "whooshy" (lol). Still too much money to currently make an excuse to buy, but I will for sure keep this one in mind. Thanks for the vid guys 🤘
