0:59 I’d love to learn more about the clearance/creepage rules. Especially when safety isolating from the mains. I googled the topic a few times with great difficulty finding specific answers.

Great video. Why use "L" shaped slots when the shortest distance is across the short leg?

brilliant video. I've got to explain creepage and clearance to my boss soon so this is great for the introduction.

what is the model of the Fluke tester?

Three videos within five days. You seem to be on fire! The moisture demonstration was excellent, the ending brilliant. Grear work! I wonder if conformal coating would have a similar effect as solder mask on the clearance distance. I assume it should help at least with the creepage distance?

Ristomatti Airo Yes conformal coating will help as well and will more importantly keep the surface clean (pollution down), and there is a large variety of conformal coatings with various properties. However, it is not recommended to rely on mask or coatings in place of proper spacing. Some agencies do not recognize these methods.

How is this done in EagleCAD?

Use layer 46 Milling and any polygonal shape. But at the end, this is decided what you output to gerber files and how your PCB manufacturer is treating them. Why did you cut those traces, why didnt solder on connector holes?
@sdgelectronics5 жыл бұрын
There's other areas of the PCB that wouldn't withstand 1kV during the testing. These were isolated by cutting the traces

Nice demo, but I think the most important part is creapage and clearance between the mains voltage and the low voltage side the user might touch. The transformers in most Chinese psu's fall way below par on this point.

Good demo one picture is worth 1000 words. And shut down the doubting Thomas that would otherwise open up their mouth.
