Got one of these, too. Thanks for your reviews! But watch out, the T12 handle is not compatible with this new stand! The handle just stays in the stand because the tip is touching the inner surface. The handle isn’t designed to get grip on the socket.

I got the idea and want to create a simple switch box to be able to quickly and easily switch between the t12 and t245 handles for the t3a as well as the t210 and t115 handles without ever having to unplug and switch handles, ultimately relieving all stress on the connectors of the handles. Does anybody know the correct aviator plug I need to get so I can do this? I want to do this with both the T3A and T3B stations so if anybody can tell me which aviator plugs I need for each station, that would be greatly appreciated.

I know you mentioned that the T115 handle isn't compatible with the T3A station but is there a way we could DIY something like that or force it to work with T3A? T3B looks great and the wiring seems better as well but I really like the RAW power T3A has to offer. Perhaps a custom firmware that limits the output to 100 watts when connected to the T115 handle. I really need a good set of soldering equipment but can not yet afford to but 2 different stations. Also, the T3B is a little more expensive compared to T3A. I just need the precision of T115 and the power of T3A for different tasks.

I bought the Aixun station based on your review. Actually the whole series on various soldering stations is a treat. The Aixun is a great station, but the stand leaves a lot to be desired. Had to keep a stand from my Ersa still on the bench, because it has a brass wool compartment. I have been eyeing this new stand for some time now. It is a bit pricey when compared to the cost of the station, but probably worth it. The extra tip storage and brass wool compartment alone would make the upgrade worthwile. Is the new stand heavy? The old one is just too light and slides around easily. Thanks for the review.

Good to see ya again Steve 👍 That stand indeed looks far more substantial and a much better match with the general overall quality of the main unit. I like the T3B version too but I'm not a fan of the way wires on solder stations are routed from the rear of units. Yes I guess I'm fussy 🙂 Cheers John

@redaxnela3 жыл бұрын
I really do like the backfacing connector design of the newer T3B, nevertheless the advertised power rating of 96W compared to the 200W of the T3A makes me wonder if this is really an improvement over all or a step back in terms of speed and the capability of soldering thermally demanding stuff like your test PCB. Talking about "advertised" you never know with ALI. I can not imagine they changed quite a lot internally but there is no proof until you had a look inside. So I´ll guess I have to wait until you have it on your workbench ...

Wasted money on this and genuine JBC tips before i bought Metcal :(
@whoisntwhoisit21262 жыл бұрын
Is Metcal that much better? When I try to look around on information on Metcal, I can not find much on it. It seems like not many people talk much about them except "They are expensive as hell" and that many other stations, like the JBC and clones, are fairly comparable. I have found many of the Metcal I see for sale do not even have a display on them, makes me wonder how you know what temperature you are at... kinda odd... I am getting frustrated with the Hakko 888D, that heater in the handle and tips that go over it is a terrible method of heat transfer. I find that when I have a large ground plane sometimes it just puts my iron into useless mode, solder stays hard no matter how long I hold it. I tried swapping to my buddies Weller (branded RadioShack, but its a nice bench weller) and it was significantly worse than the 888D... Then I finally gave in and used the SA-993 Desoldering Gun just to have enough heat to actually melt the solder - I'd like to have an iron capable of everything - something that will just put the extra power when its needed. I was thinking of going with the KSGER or now this Aixun but no idea if they will be strong enough to do the job. Metcal being so expensive I was thinking maybe the BST JBC Clone? But then I hear that the KSGER/Aixun basically does the same work - I would buy legit tips from JBC/Hakko whichever was needed to make sure it ran at its best. Sounding like you would go Metcal under all circumstances? Which Model? What have you tested it against yourself? Thank you for your time, greatly appreciated!

@@whoisntwhoisit2126 first i bought old faulty rgb30 from 198x. Then two broken mx-500's .And bought used metcal tips on ebay. I have like 40x cartridges but in 90% cases i just use two or thee of those cartridges. This fake jcb station performs well, but the handle gets real hot after short period of use even with genuine handle , and if you dont like flaming hot handle you need to buy and add thick,,silly sponge on the grip. If thats not bad enough the genuine tips oxidize and get ugly after short period. I feel sorry for people who spent lot of money on oem JCB station. Metcal is way above. I'm EET and do lot of smd work with large power planes. JCB could work but my work allows me to have better equipment Ps dont bother with this ksger garbage, unless you do esd mod and upgrade the output mosfet. Sadly the limitation is still there with JBC systems in that you must buy the correct station for the handpiece. The modular stations have more freedom but come at a higher cost.
