I'm a Habs fan, but when I read the stat about us not having more than 30 shots a game during this season so far my reaction was the same as your background crew; I laughed my ass off. Because let's be honest. That's outstanding.
@HabsTypeBeat4 күн бұрын
Obviously this isn’t the whole answer but part of it is Marty’s no “hope plays” mantra. We’re taking less shots that have close to zero chance of going in. Even if we were stacked I think we would average less shots than most teams. What’s crazy is we have one of the better records in the league over the last 10-15 games with no shots over 30 in a game.

I second this. It’s great to hear an outside perspective as well, you guys tell the truth. I mean . . . the Penguins absolutely have turned it around comparatively speaking. 7-2-1 in their last ten, wins over multiple quality teams (Florida, Toronto, Vancouver, LA, and Calgary all during this stretch), and all without any real goal scoring during that time from Crosby or Malkin. If the goals start going in for them, the Pens can easily keep their hot stretch going. But other than some good natured ribbing on that comment, great episode guys, really enjoyed the discourse as always!

Adam comparing these rangers to the PT panthers a few years ago is insane and hilarious in every way. At no point did we lose 11 of 14, trade our captain, have a players only meeting that was almost definitely to discuss plans for a mutiny against the gm, have said gm send an open letter to the rest of the league basically saying everyone but one or two guys are for sale. The rangers have done all of that in the last month
@matthewsimonds33464 күн бұрын
He is simply saying both teams had bad starts after winning the presidents trophy and can just squeak into the playoffs. And the panthers traded their franchise player in Huberdeau so it’s somewhat similar
@Songbird.16234 күн бұрын
@matthewsimonds3346 1. The rangers had a miles better start PT+1 than Florida. 2. The huberdeau trade is similar in principle (a leader and very high profile player on the team was traded) but nothing else. Huberdeau was traded in July after a record breaking season for assets that revolutionized the team and ultimately paved the way for a cup. Trouba got traded in the middle of an identity crisis for fractions of pennies

from a habs fan not hitting 30 shots meh, allowing 30+ almost every game makes our defense porous to say the least
@wolfiedude1214 күн бұрын
Depends on the quality of shots more than the quantity. If you're allowed 30 A grade scoring chances then yes that's a problem, but if it's 5 grade a scoring chances and 25 shots from the perimeter then that's a different conversation.

Apparently the record for most consecutive games without getting more than 30 shots on goal is 32 games. The habs are 1 game back of tying the record

It's only been a few years since ownership lost their mind after getting beat down in line brawls against Washington, cleaned house, and pivoted this team into a heavy team. Seeing Rangers' management getting flinchy with ownership breathing down their necks seems kind of normal, but everything they've done this season is bad. Buffalo seems to have a "secret" internal salary cap imposed by management and can't build a team around their young stars to save their GM's life. The last time life was fun on the Sabres was before Hasek got accused of faking an injury and run out of town by the local sports media. They might as well be honest about who they are and start trading everyone away to start over again, again. Their GM coming out and saying the Sabres suck because Buffalo sucks probably isn't a winning move. Winnipeg hasn't got a lot of palm trees but somehow have had a playoff team for years and are doing great this season.

Habs fans are not gonna be mad at you about the shots thing. You say that like we arent the ones watching the games yelling SHOOT THE PUCK 80 times a game while we lose with 15 shots for the 3rd time in a week. its BAD. They went into the 3rd period vs the Sabres with OVER 20. and still didnt pass 30 Also, why did the Sabres start their 4th line? idk but so did the Habs! How is Armia on the ice 19 seconds in?
@wolfiedude1214 күн бұрын
To score the first goal of the game, obviously. But also it's line matching from the coach. You don't want to be in a position where you're double shifting the top line early on in the game because you started them vs the 4th line and then have they have to go again when the top line comes out.
