I recommend everyone to try D nice whitepoint instead. Put it in warm2 , then only adjust high ( green 8, blue 7) , leaving low untouched. That will get rid of the magenta push on most oleds in warm 2.

Great video Amok! Always super informative. Hey man. Is there anyway you can test D-Nice (Dwayne Davis’) LG CX calibration settings he posted on AVS forums? I wanna know how they measure. He’s posted measurements, but being I don’t have the equipment yet, I was just curious if you could see how these settings fair, when plugged into your CX, and measured. Just for a second opinion, per say. I find his settings great. Clearly not going to be better than a real calibration, but still better than OOTB calibration. It really helps fix the grayscale and gamma, which is always a little too dark and crushed on LG OLEDs. I’m trying to decide which settings to use...yours or his. On a side note, I honestly hate SDR gaming on the CX. It’s BAD! Is so drab, and lifeless. Seeing the A80J SDR gaming performance compared to a C1 was eye opening. SONY is kicking LG’s ass when it comes to SDR gaming. I mean it’s night and day, and idk why this is. I really dislike the CX’s SDR, bc it’s so dim. The only way SDR games look appealing, is by using a custom HDR effect mode lol. I’m like you, I have a hard time with SDR, after playing and experiencing HDR for so long. I actually would of never even of thought to use the HDR effect mode typically. I’m more of a purist. But I can’t lie, I kinda like the effect it has on some content. Especially games. I clearly turn off all processing, and target D65, but I do leave the forced wide color, which I no is wrong...but sometimes I like it. Especially in a bright room and with gaming. It kinda emulates a WCG the best it can... Sorry for kinda ranting all over the place. PS...I directed someone towards your channel today. (A person who see’s zero benefits to HGiG). Hopefully he can learn something about HGiG, and HDR, before he keeps making videos that make him look like he’s got no idea what he’s talking about.

Hi Amok, I'm just getting my head around calibration. I have watched quite few of your videos already and I kind of formed a plan. So to start calibrating my CX should I first go via service mode and do white point setting first and then 11 point calibration within tv settings? Why did you do 2 point calibration at all?

Using PC mode unfortunately cannot adjust colors in game mode, even when i tried to adjust manually I could not get good results with manual controls but since i need 4:4:4 on PC you can't change colors manually so Calman was the only way. Calman uploading a LUT that applies to that picture mode fixed my colors a lot so I think it was worth the $ to get a really good result. I would also recommend to always use Limited and Black level low, I've done a bunch of research on this and even though the TV supports full range from a source it will convert it internally and output it in limited range as that is what it was designed to do, conversions always risk introducing artifacts so I've switched to using all my consoles in Limited/Low as well as my PC. Also one last thing, if using PC input label for a PC and HDMI or game console input label for a console the colors and greyscale will be different as the processing between PC mode and non pc mode is different. I would simply recommend to use PC mode for everything if using calman autocal since the LUT upload makes it not matter that manual controls are greyed out like color. The only problem with PC mode is real cinema is off so if watching any 24 fps content you will want to switch input labels but this isn't an issue if using the TVs internal apps/player. EDIT: Wanted to say for real cinema and 24 fps content you do not need to switch input labels to get real cinema on PC if you are using the PC at 120hz with the TV as 24 divides evenly into 120 and gives you 5:5 pulldown. However on a console outputting at 60hz you will need 3:2 pulldown for 24 fps content and real cinema is required to not get any judder.

Any idea how much input lag we get while using different picture modes. I use PC input, but prefer the technicolour expert mode over game mode for colour accuracy in SDR. I remember reading on Rtings with my old C7 that you could change input to PC, select any picture mode with the exact same input lag. I'm currently using a C9, wondering if input lag increases while using picture modes outside of game mode, while having the TV input set to PC.

Hi Amok, thanks for your work. I always try these suggested color settings but the result is always a "warm picture". I know color calibrations are particular to any device. I d like to know how is the result in your panel. For example, when you put a white desktop picture in your tv, you see a warm white, cool white or neutral white. For me the correct result it would be a neutral white, but I am not sure about it. Cheers

the t65 whitepoint can seem pretty warm to the untrained eye, but it should be that way. almost every content is mastered in the t65 whitepoint, it‘s the most accurate. if you don‘t like the look of the warm white however, you can for sure change it to a more cool white.

Mich umzugewöhnen, würde Jahre in Anspruch nehmen.
@91KevinJohn
@91KevinJohn 3 жыл бұрын
