Found them. , thanks to a popular scambaiter, we got his bank accounts shutdown. They devoted a small center. But it was so obviously fake, if anyone was demanding something from you, you can tell them there's no free lunches and it's so obviously fake because you know how to speak second grade English. You weren't the only one. You may want to give MD heads up.. I will too, but I don't know if you will read mine or if you will read this. The went after tv review guys and 'unbox T' viewers too. Lowlifes. Also annoyed that this younger generation thinks they can just get stuff for free.. you want one of these, pay the 150 to this great company and get one of these microphones. Or pay $18 -50 and get a perfectly good Sennheiser or Samson dynamic. Side note I have a suggestion for a vid, I think neodymium Mics are the future. Require like 18 less DB? It'll be cool to do a showdown re27 versus beta series vs these, etc...

I for one welcome our new lizard overlords... Seriously, though, I agree the DCM3 and DCM6 sound a bit too boosted from about 1kHz upward. I get what they were going for, and I would probably like the sound a bit better if they shaved about 1.5 or 2dB off that boost. I mean, when you look at the response graph, that's what, +6dB from 3kHz to 7 kHz? It's nice to have a boost in that range, but it's a bit aggressive for my taste. It's one of the reasons why I've been debating whether or not to get a Heil PR 40: I don't know whether or not it's going to sound good on my voice, and I don't want to have to fight it with EQ any more than I absolutely have to. It seems to me like they were going for that Heil sound but went a little bit too far with it. The original DynaCaster, however, having a darn near flat response, may very well be my next major studio investment. The poor man's RE 20, I might call it, and I know from experience that I can tweak an RE 20 to my liking.

Bang on. For me the handhelds offer way better sound for less money. They’ve basically stuck the V3 capsule (meh!) in a nice broadcast body knowing the aesthetic will sell. If I was to quote Trainspotting (1996) movie I’d say ‘that’s a shite state of affairs, Tommy’. But this is where it’s got to. What would they have lost sticking the v7x capsule in that mic, 2-3 dollars? There was an opportunity here to really shake that $100 market, but they chickened out 😢

Great comparison. The DCM 6 sounds fine on your voice, but I agree with your conclusion that the V7 and SM58 are better picks. People worry far too much about style. I pick a mic for the sound. I'm not a fan of the SM7B, and I thought it was too thick and dark here. The RE-20 is my personal booth mic, and has been since 1977. These days, for stage use, and even narrating a video, I'd pick from the V7 and 58 for voice and the V7x and 57 for instruments. They're inexpensive enough and different enough to have some of each. I haven't heard enough from any of those other mics to have an opinion. Any of them could probably work in a pinch with a little EQ.
@drbrownmusic

What a crowded market. The DCM6 is fine I guess for a $100 mic, but doesn't really stand out. The only one that did stand out in the lower price range to me was the BCD-1 for being awful. I still really like how my V7 sounds, so I think I'll just keep using that.

Notice how all the neodymium microphones (ex shure betas) have the proximity adjustments on the frequency response. Pretty cool, the capsule can actually change the frequency without the crazy proximity effect (muddy low-end) depending on your distance to the capsule.

Yeah, I think the sE V7 sounds better, but it's kinda close. I do agree with the analysis, but for spoken word through my headphone's 50mm drivers without EQ, it sounds somewhat natural. The included activator might be really cool for people with weaker preamps on their audio interfaces or mixers, but other than that, yeah, I'd go for a handheld vocal dynamic mic.

While listening to the comparisons, I noticed the DCM has a peak right around the "ee" vowel (something like 3-ish kHz) that was rather unappealing, whereas the RE 320 and the MV7 sounded much more balanced and flattering on your voice.

The more I listen to these using a good headset, the more I realize, there's really no point to getting anything except for electrovoice re20 (or re27 ND). It literally sounds like you're talking into my ear with good headphones and all the other microphones pretty much sound the same. They are okay but, it's like a $50 Bluetooth speaker compared to a $5,000 Bose system.

Hi, I'm planning to take Go xlr mini for streaming and recording game clips and I still can't figure out which microphone will suit me better) I looked at rode podmic, but I'm afraid it will be too *explosive*, shure is too much out of budget, in the end now I'm leaning towards sE DynaCaster. As I understand for my tasks is best suited dcm6, as with the 8-th difference in EQ, which I understand I do not need? And in general, is the assembly normal, or have I collected some crap and for this budget for my purposes I can choose something better)?

I’d be reluctant to buy a GoXLR at this point. I’d suggest researching what’s going on with that team, I thought I heard some of their team left or something. The elgato Wave XLR may be a good alternative, the Lewitt Connect 6 could also work. Check those out and see if those features meet your needs. If you like the sound oft heard DCM6 then I’m sure that would work fine for ya.

It's difficult to justify the existence of the DCM6. It's for the person who has an underpowered interface and can't spent any more money. I don't think there are enough of those people to make the DCM6 profitable, so I assume it will mostly sell to people who don't need the preamp but thought it made the mic better because... more is better.

Should I pick a sE dcm6 or se v7 for recording my voice close micing? Which mic is better for sound rejection and untreated room and sometimes some noise in background?
@Podcastage
@Podcastage Жыл бұрын
For close micing voice (1-2 inches) I found that Dynacaster handled the proximity effect and plosives better, and the EQ switches give you additional control over the low end and the top end with a high pass filter and high shelf. For background noise rejection, I found that the sE V7 did a slightly better job at that compared to the dynacaster. I still prefer the overall tone of the sE V7 right out of the box, but the functionality and versatility of the dynacaster with those EQ switches and internal dynamite makes it an interesting proposition. When it comes down to it, you'll need to also decide which mic you think sounds better.

I may be crazy, but the difference in sound is very minimal between all these microphones. Of course there's a few mics that stand out for its sound, particularly the higher end mics. I listened to the comparison with 2 sets of earbuds and I'm not a mic guy by any means but they all sound very, very similar. And I felt the same from watching a couple of reviews, which leads me to believe that the interface plays a big role in how a mic sounds. Again, not a mic guy.
@Podcastage
@Podcastage Жыл бұрын
The interface plays a part in how it sounds, but it's really not a huge difference. A lot of people don't hear much of a difference between mics especially listening through earbuds or phone speakers. If you don't hear any kind of benefit from the other mics, then there's no reason to pay the premium. Get the affordable one and make some awesome audio/video.

Hello Podcastage, Could you help me to find a microphone? I'm looking for a microphone and three characteristics are important: 1. not cheap 2. type-c connection 3. and the most important and problematic point, must be with the WHITE body color I love the new rode nt usd+ and it's black of course. They have a podcaster, but it's type-b and doesn't sound very good. Expensive shure is also not type-c, but an ancient mini connector. Universal Audio use XLR, of course. Blue snowball ice is also from mini, and the sound is not very good there. Looks like only Elgato Wave 3 could be, but it is in half white. Thanks in advance!
@Podcastage
@Podcastage Жыл бұрын
I'm not aware of any other white USB-C microphones. I think you're right with the Elgato. I'd advocate avoiding the Snowball if you can, but also it's type b. Shure's MV7's are Mini. UA's mic and Lewitt's 240 or 440 is XLR. Only one that comes to mind that meets your critteria is the ELGATO. Good luck.

@@Podcastage Many thanks for your answer! I searched a little bit more and looks like all three requests are covered by gaming microphones. So, to the white with black grill Elgato Wave 3, we could add NZXT Wired Capsule. If full white, it will be, with a lot of not needed patterns HyperX QuadCast S or Deity VO-7U, and this one you could order with an almost fully white boom arm. I didn't see or use them in real life but looks like they are the same.

@Podcastage
@Podcastage Жыл бұрын
Because if you set your gain high at the preamp, and get excited, you will distort the analog to digital converter and that sounds terrible. If you set your preamp so you have enough headroom to get loud and not exceed 0dB, then in post you can boost the audio up while avoiding that distortion (clipping) artifact.

Most 100-150$ dynamic mics really don't do that great I gotta say. The V7 might still be the best choice. And in general, the Rode Procaster is still the best dynamic value microphone from my perspective. i am looking for a broadcast/radio style sound right now. my budget is around 250$ for a mic. what can you guys recommend? currently i am thinking of getting the rode procaster and using the dbx286s into a Focusrite DAC.

sE Dynacaster is the correct choice. I use it for my streaming radio combined with Rodecaster Pro. With a correct setting on RCP, it sounds amazing like pro radio station.

Am I mad for thinking that the DCM6 with the activator sounds a bit more hashy in the midrange, not as clear or at ease as the DCM3? Guess it's a nice to have for a less beefy preamp but sounds like the 3 is just a more pleasant mic.

A bit shrill on the high end; not a warm tone.

Yet another perfectly useable couple of broadcast-style dynamics. Super. Still, if I were creating content meant to be on-camera, the SM7b, like it or not, still projects legitimacy. Monkey-see, monkey-do. We're a weird species...

Maybe this was the case a couple years ago but now that every rando podcaster a hundred miles beneath Rogan and Maron uses the SM7b, not sure if its presence means much anymore.
