Sea Bass fishing on the Isle of Anglesey - 3 Day Coastal Break
I head off to the Isle of Anglesey for a 3 day coastal break and some sea fishing to try and catch sea bass on lures - will this elusive fish make a show this time ? Enjoy the sights and sounds of the stunning Anglesey coastline and some of the lovely views across Red Wharf Bay.
Sometimes, even if you don't catch anything - it doesn't matter because it's all about being in the Great Outdoors, relaxing and enjoying some peaceful time to contemplate and be mindful.
If anyone watches this with fishing experience, especially for sea bass on lures - I would love to hear from you in the comments.
All the best, Chris
Always remember to respect the environment and leave no trace.

Hi Chris throw 150 quid at a spinning rod and reel. Buy yourself a few savage rubber lures and fish the rocky land marks or surf beach gutters. Your sure to hit gold. Your Beach rod looks a bit heavy duty for lure fishing. I’ve had good results around treadurr bay and holy island Newbourough. Good luck 👍

I catch bass regularly near Menai bridge 53°13'15"N 4°09'56"W · 4.50 m coordinates for you 😉 can park under bridge if your lucky and literally a 2 min walk if have no luck with lures try a float with live prawns tight lines Chris 😉

Hi mate come over to penros and try all round that area am not putting you right on them you no why but have a good walk about on low water and you will soon see we're you can fish also try around the stables on the straight S just as it's going dark up to the right you also need waders to get out into the flow then you don't have to cast far and use a shallow dive plug hope this helps 🎣🎣👍

Thanks Neil, tried again over the last few days - hooked something at Menai on a lure - was on for a few seconds, felt big - got off 🙄 I didn't strike into it. I asked in a tackle shop in Menai but the guy wouldn't tell me anything 🙄 really demoralising.

I'm no expert mate but I've caught plenty of bass on lures over the last few years. Both on Anglesea and the llyn peninsula. I would advise fishing into the night with white lures. Either a patchenko 125 or a komomo 125. If you do those things on the marks you're fishing in this vid sooner or later you'll nail a few. Tight lines. Edit maybe up your gear a bit. £60-80 spinning rod that'll cast up to 35g. Same money on 2500-3000 sized spinning reel(daiwa or shimano) and finally a good quality braided mainline

Nice spot and a fantastic beach there. That mic really comes into it's on on a day like that, with a gale blowing and giving the freedom to be away from the camera. That wind was a beast on both days but at least a pork pie helped to get over the fishing less morning, despite the the threat of an overhead cormorant attack😳. Well done on hitting 11K, that was a very positive, better than the fishing😂. Must admit I felt very confident on the Shirley spot on day 3 (Moelfre Rocks), very Bassy indeed but a snapped rod did not help, I think the Bass were laughing at you😖. No matter, at least you went out, at least you give it a go and at least it was better than sitting on the house -- it made great entertainment as well. The bass will be there for another day, unless everybody else has been catching them😖. Cheers Alan

Hey mate, watched this video and the video you did with your dad a while back. One thing I would definitely recommend is to fish with the surface and shallow divers over rocky surfaced areas in the sea from the coast. Bass love the structure and only on rare occasions (usually when chasing bait fish in shore, mainly in the warm summer months from June-September) will they be near sandy areas. I live in north wales and have only ever caught bass near rocky/structured areas. If you need any more tips on where to go and what lures to use just let me know I'm happy to help ;)

I’ll let you into a little bass fishing secret… we lure fish for them at night! Not the best for filming, but they are way more aggressive hitting lures after dark. Savage gear Sandeels, patchinko, komomo 2 (flashing plate) are my faves but Dexter wedges normally do ok in the day if the school bass are about. Penmon point is a good spot, but snaggy for dexters. And fast tides too so you have to time it right.

Water temps play a major part in the bass life an times of feeding and migration. I look for temps starting at 10deg and up before I even go out hunting. The lay of your land looks shallow an Sandy based (the beach an estuary) so look at big tides very early or late dusk. Try looking again for diving birds an try “walking the dog” surface lures…. Takes practice 👍😎. Or try a more sandeel type bumping up an down over the Sandy beach under those diving birds…. If there coming up with sandeels ? Then you have to match the hatch 😎🤓👍. Leave the dexta wedge for deep water marks.

Bass are wary and often only take realistic looking lures. In rough weather its not too bad but if its clear and calm they’ll follow your lure and then turn off if they dont like the look of it. You should 100% give top water lures a go and also look at buying yourself a good fast action bass rod.

@@MCMOutdoors sorry chris its not a joke , the bass fishermen couldnt beleive it therselves with their 6 rods , im no fisherman but i think you up your chances trawling from a boat slowly rather than casting in off a beach , keep up your great vids they have inspired my wife and i to get out wild camping , and you and your mates have helped us through the lockdown without doubt and i seem to be on utube mist nights now because normal tv is so naff these days 😉👍

Great to hear mate - I'd say a dose of outdoor KZbin far beats TV. I don't watch TV anymore, just Netflix and KZbin and I've never looked back 👍

The bass will be waiting for the water temperature to rise a degree or so before they move in Chris. Ps....why does black crag only get relatively low viewing figures when he probably puts the best dramatic, cinematic footage of the lakes on KZbin? Is it whether people like the presenter more than the content or what? He looks like a proper hipster type with the massive beard and that, it puts me off a lot tbh but he does show the mountains off in a way no one else does. Just seems a slightly odd fella and that's probs why mediocre figures.

He gets some cracking footage and photos of the fells in all their dramatic & atmospheric glory - my beard could do with a trim at the moment, I look like a vagrant on my soon to be released tent review vid (Naturehike Spire) 😂 thanks for the tip re the bass 👍
