Sea Doo GTX Jet Ski fishing setup and anchoring with custom made LinQ accessories

The Sea Doo GTX is the awesome sport SUV of the sea! We do heaps with ours, including fishing. Here is how I set it up for fishing and anchoring (when bait fishing).
There are some BRP LinQ components and some home-made LinQ bits!
Not many Jet Ski fishers I know anchor and one of the reasons I think is "what do you do with 30-40m of wet rope when you pull it up?" Its a bit hard to hand coil and then its dripping wet - I don't want that in my front hatch with all my other dry stuff! That is why I made my anchor winder. It is great to have the option to stay in one spot if the fish are biting. Although I make it look a little awkward in the video, it is quite easy to deploy and retrieve and I have used it reliably about 10 times.

Great set up! How do you like your Garmin? I made a similar simpler not as fancy mount for mine. Your inventions look awesome! Thanks for sharing. I am about to pull the trigger on the same LinQ cooler and Sea Doo rod holders. Now I know to get three or four for to also hold a net and maybe a gaff.

I've got 9 of those rod holders in total and I use them all! (I have the 2 front mount points though). I would recommend making sure you get the MK2 cooler with the rubber hold down latches, as the MK1 cooler with the center latch can fly open, especially when it gets older. The small garmin is ok, but I have thought about getting a larger screen model to mount in the mirror position. In the age of touchscreen devices it is a bit tricky using the cursors & menus on this little screen and its not great if you have the finder and charts up at the same time. But its all big $$ to change it now!

@@seadooing4356 I see towards the end of your video you have a pic of you and looks like probably your son. Do you both go out fishing on your Sea Doo at the same time? My son is 14 and we're thinking of giving it a go not too far out on calm days once we get all our gear. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Yep! I usually go with my son (12) which is awesome and works well. The GTX doesn’t have the rear extension like the FishPro so you can’t have two big people fishing (especially if any swell or wakes) as it sits a bit low at the back and lets water into the footwells.

@@seadooing4356 Thanks! Our Sea Doo is a GTI SE 130. I plan to stay fairly close in. At that there is still endless fishing. Time to get the cooler and the rest of our gear.

Fishpro *only* came in 170HP when I got mine (and is basically a GTX anyway) mine is 230HP. we use it for tube towing, blasting and touring in addition to the fishing - so its a pretty versatile machine and its good to be able to configure it for those different uses. Still love it but had a terrible last summer and not too many good winter fishing days so it hasn't seen any use in months and months. It's coming into NZ summer now so hopefully I'll get some good hours onto it and some good fish!

Hello, I made the bracket out of 2mm thick stainless steel & cut it on a water jet cutter. It will only work for the Garmin models which have the mount like the ECHOMAP Plus 45CV. You do need to bend the bracket a bit to get it to fit follow the contours just right before gluing it. I did not want to drill any holes in my new ski so I used Gorilla 940FC glue to stick it to the steering column. First I roughed up the stainless bracket on a linishing wheel then used plenty of glue and gaffed it in place for about a day. I have been on some pretty bumpy rides and it has not fallen off yet and its been on about 2 years. If you want you can also get the proper plugs to connect to the Aux electrical plug on your Seadoo. This makes a waterproof connection without having to cut or join any wires on your Sea Doo. If you don’t have the speakers installed it will plug straight in. If you have the speakers you will need the little adapter part from BRP. Hi, I'm glad you like the video - I have been wanting to make some more videos about fishing and various anchoring techniques, but the summer here in NZ has been terrible and I've hardly been able to get in the water! The anchor spooler was not printed, I fabricated it out of PVC panel, which I cut on a water jet cutter, pvc plumbing tube and some various junk I had. I solvent welded most of it together. Some of the gears were made from stainless steel (also waterjet cut), the motor was from an old printer! The spool was some waste from where I work. So unfortunately I don't think it is something you could easily replicate. You could try design your own to utilize the materials you have on hand...

Hi - I designed and made them all myself because at the time Sea Doo didn’t have anything like them. (And anything they do have is expensive!). I noticed in their new season catalog that they have a few new LinQ accessories now that can clip on the bin for fishing.
