Fantastic! I learned so much from this tutorial at just the right time in my painting progress! I live in a very foggy cove in coastal New England and I've yet to find someone who could demo it for me in just the right way. Thank you!

I'd have to say from all of your paintings on youtube, this is my favorite because of the drama you've captured with your sky and mist. Beautiful, well done. Can you tell me how you're enjoying the new W&N block? I have several blocks and 10 full sheets. Hard to work with, but you've done so beautifully. Your tide pool rocks are magnificent in texture and foreground color. Simple, yet elegant. Thank you!

Frances Turano Hi, I just read your comment about the Winsor and Newton paper from a month ago and I was curious how it was going with using it now? I just recently tried it and fell in love with it instantly. I find myself reaching for it over my Arches paper even, especially when I am painting with handmade watercolors, which I recently discovered and absolutely Love also. I was curious to find out what you like and dislike about the paper? Thanks for your time. Hope you and yours have a beautiful, safe, Happy Fourth of July holiday. Happy Painting. 🙂

@@stacyhannon4081 Hi Stacy! I've tried many brands of paper, and must admit, I'm an Arches fan tried and true. I bought 5 sheets of W&N, plus the blocks. They're a difficult adjustment, and I feel like I gave it a good chance. The block & sheets both behaved much differently. If my feet were held to the fire, I'd say I prefer their blocks, but in the end, I put it all in the "Xmas cards" file. I'm sorry! Wish I had a better review, but that's why we all fall in love with what we do. It's taken me 2 years of all kinds of paint, & I JUST discovered it: Da Vinci. You know what you love when you discover it. What kind of paints do you prefer?
@stacyhannon40815 жыл бұрын
Frances Turano No worries, no apologies needed. I much prefer your honest answer then a generic one. I haven’t tried the sheets yet, only the blocks. I had actually used mostly the handmade watercolors on the blocks and they worked beautifully. However, today, I played around with my M. Graham paints on the paper and I have to say I was a little disappointed! The paper did not respond to my favorite, M. Graham’s the same way it did with the different handmade watercolors I have been using. I’m gonna play around work both again tonight to see if I can figure out what the issue it. M. Graham’s are my most favorite, with QOR coming in second. I also use the other name brands that are out there now, but I think that I shall always be an M. Graham girl. Anyways, hope you and yours had a great Fourth of July. 💕🙂

@@stacyhannon4081 -- I am rather fond of some new paper from India that I purchased in a 25 pack on Amazon. Originally, I didn't care for the book my husband bought me of India paper, but this Amazon India paper is GREAT! Very little water, very little attention necessary. I LOVE it! If you're interested, I'll get the name from my studio table, give it to you. Highly textured, but softly so. I was amazed how much I liked it. I made it a goal to use as many papers as possible for as long as possible, and this one really floated my boat! :) Lovely texture that's sheer delight to work on!

@@stacyhannon4081 Sorry, I didn't answer your question about the W&N sheets! The sheets are quite soft, not highly textured, like a blend of rag cotton & Indigo art papers, yet the cotton is near impossible to tear down like we do with our Arches sheets. The sizing is quite different, if any. The blocks are what I prefer, as they behave like hot press, so less water is necessary. Takes a bit of time to acclimate, but very different from Arches. Sadly, neither bowled me over, but I fell IN LOVE with Utte's works, perhaps because he works very wet, very quickly? It's the best I've seen on this block W&N paper.

Excellent painting demo of fog however the lack of instruction leaves many viewers (other then myself) with questions. I'm unsure why all the rapid hand movement after all it's mostly wet on wet except the foreground. The two marks on the top left should have been addressed early on while it was still wet and not after.

I agree that the painting is great, BUT hearing every little sound: PLEASE!!!!....while some artists DO have incredibly annoying music (thankfully there is 'mute'), this is about drove me nuts, and again, THANKFULLY THERE IS 'MUTE'!!!!!.....
