Sea Fury - Old Warden VJ Display

*Note the GA aircraft overflying the aerodrome during the display - a hair raising moment, which unfortunately I've witnessed several times at shows there.

Well done, that is some film, and a great sounding aircraft. I remember the Yeovilton Sea Fury at the Lincolnshire Air Shows in the 60's

Yes, but then you would lose that equally magnificent sight mate. The Sea Fury is, I think, together with the Spitfire IX & XIV, the best looking aircraft ever made.

I have pictures stamped top secret taken from my great uncles Sea Fury, USS Missouri and Korean defence positions etc. He sneaked a hip flask into the cot pit every time he flew. His close friend was there when the first Mig was shot down, the Mig didn't see the 4 Sea Fury's below him as he flew past, they pulled up there noses& all fired and the squadron leader claimed the kill. The last word in propeller-driven fighters, and the Centaurus engine sounds magnificent. I'm just wondering, though, why an aircraft that entered service after World War 2 is wearing D-Day stripes...

@erad5 If you mean R-2800 engined or R-3350 engined, neither of them. In fact it has a much better sounding engine, the Bristol Centaurus engine. Cheers mate!

I can quite believe this plane shot down Mig 15 jets in Korea -very hard for jet pilot to lock onto aircraft that was so manouverable German Me 109's had similar problems with seemingly slow inferior Russian bi-planes in ww2 speed is not all in air combat
