Sea Garden Cold Process Soap Making

Colored soap is poured into a mold through strainers and from cups as I fill the mold. I have fun with using lots of sea garden colors. The resulting soap is 3D art of its own kind that resembles a changing watercolor, Impressionist or Abstract painting of a sea garden. Lavender and Spearmint Essential oils support a refreshing, relaxing experience while bathing. Soap Ingredients:
1. 12 oz Organic Coconut Oil
2. 12 oz Organic Olive Oil
3. 10.1 oz of Organic Shea butter
4. 9.1 oz of Filtered Water
5. 4.8 oz of Food Grade NaOH
6. Cotton ball size Tussah silk
Fragrance:
1. 0.5 oz Organic Spearmint Essential Oil
2. 0.4 oz Organic Lavender Essential Oil
3. 0.2 oz Organic Jojoba Oil
4. 1 TBS White
5. 1 tsp Clove oil added in increments during the pour.
Colors:
1. 1 TBS White to about 4 oz
2. 1/8 tsp Orange Vibrance to about 3 oz
3. 1/4 tsp Sky Blue to about 4 oz
4. 1/4 tsp Midnight Blue to about 3 oz
5. 1/4 tsp Sea Green to about 4 oz
6. 1/4 tsp Orchid Purple to about 2 oz
7. 1/4 tsp Laurel Green to 4 oz
8. 1/4 tsp Caribbean Blue to 4 oz

This is beautiful! What is the purpose of adding the clove oil? I know it’s a “hot” oil so I didn’t think you could use this much…but maybe it wasn’t as much as it appeared.

Thanks LeslieinTN:) You don't need to use Clove oil if you don't want to. There are lots of fragrance oils that speed trace. I used it to make sections of soap that thickened quickly after flowing through the strainer because the soap was very liquid for this pour. It helped to keep the soap colors from fusing into one, homogeneous color. The resulting look is a combination of very delicate swirls from very liquid soap in the midst of patches of white soap. I hope that makes sense. I also like the fragrance of clove oil.
