Thanks Irobbo, it was an unforgettable trip, the Islands are at their best with all the birds nesting.

Nice one, Carleton. As you know, on a good day, it would be a doddle, but the problem arises when you're out there, and it changes. Favourite one would be, a change of tide, wind blowing with the tide = nice and flat, then the tide turns, opposes it, and it gets 'Interesting'. Given your experience, you may get away without any training, I did!! Obviously training would be the best option, but it's possible to learn without, just remember you're own personal limitations - ALWAYS.

Nice one Radz, now's the time for it, well, when the wind eases that is. It's really great, and an adventure for sure, but I always struggle sleeping, I'm way too pampered at home now. I wasn't cold at all, but the tent was on an incline, and the ground was soft, but lumpy. The main problem I have is the pillow situation, just can't get it right, I even struggle at home in bed at times with it. The atmosphere out there is really special, at one with nature and all that.

Hi Robin, I just re-visited on the 4th Sept. It was awesome, saw some great things, and a pod of Dolphins, I'll do another upload, and name it 'September Skerries' can't do anything at the moment though as my computer has a virus.

Hi There, I agree, I would not dream of such a trip without a good fair few miles & training under my keel. Even though I have taken my Day Skipper, Yacht Master & BSAC Scuba Diving courses. I have sailed in & out of the Mersey & dived the West Coast of Scotland & UK's south coast. I would always undergo training. Love all your vids & now follow. Regards Carleton

Hi Dunnery, I don't think anyone would say any different, when the sun shines. But when it doesn't............ha ha. You should come over sometime, we keep meaning to go to Ireland, but the Ferry cost is ridiculous for a van.

Hi John, good advice, but getting a signal out there is the main problem mainly. For once, we could actually get a signal. I have an Icom VHF, but it's gone flat, and I can't find the charger, but you saw the conditions out there, the last thing on my mind, was ANYBODY getting in to difficulties out there. You're right about the Rods, we really need to do some fishing, but we never have time. Done the BBQ though, check out 'Phil's big weekend' we had a great BBQ at the old Brickworks.

I got stuck just off Church bay in the Eddies yesterday. fighting the current. Silly move on my part trying to paddle against the tide. Went from Sandy Beach to Skerries and back. Arms are dead today. Some fast water around there!

I ALWAYS sleep in a tent Jon, just ask the missus, ha ha. It's a Vango 200 I think. It's compact and that, but it pitches, outer tent first!!! It did my head in I can tell you. I've only pitched it once before, and this time I was tired, and it was dark, it was a bit of a 'mare, nearly joined Matt on the shingle, but believe me, his snoring drowns out the birds. The Laser Terranova is a good, but expensive tent, tbh a £25 special, would suffice on a night like that, it's just if weather changes.

Hi Mate, you wouldn't want to be there today, I can assure you, it's howling here at the moment. You'll have to bite the bullet and just head up here, or meet us down Mid-Wales. Next time we get some weather we'll be there, but everything is short notice, the weather being so up and down. You'll absolutely love Anglesey, if the conditions allow it, it's got everything you need really, the bird life is at it's best right now, come mid July it will be almost over, for the birds.

Yes indeed, I think one of us needs to purchase a handheld VHF radio, to enable communication. I'll give you a clue who needs to buy one...........not me, ha ha

Hello again, point taken, though I would enjoy the training. Maybe then I would look to join a group of well experienced guys etc.As you say know your limitations. Of to the Isle Of Man last week July, Adventurous Experiances look good they have some interesting Kayaking ( and other stuff ) going on, basics etc. Regards Carleton

I thought they were looking for you when I saw the chopper, I use one of amazons waterproof iphone cases on a lanyard round my neck so the phone's to hand in case anything happens. I did have a supposedly waterproof cobra marine radio but it leaked first dunking. Great video, lovely day. You'll need to take a rod and a portable bbq for those beach stops and have fresh lunch!

Hi Truth, I use Sony Vegas Platinum 11. But that is only half the story, the Gopro footage you see has been filmed in the Underwater casing, and this has a polarising lens on, and this helps. If you look at some of the last video, you can see it cuts surface reflection, making the water appear clearer. In Vegas, I use "1440x1080 24p" in the Render Templates. Maybe the best thing to try, is rendering the same, short clip, in different renders, and uploading to see which is best. AVCHD format.

Don't try going out to the Skerries though eh? ha ha, need some miles under your belt before you try this one. You can have many hours of pleasure just doing the easy, safe stuff. I still love ambling around Treardurr Bay on Anglesey, it is one of the most wonderful places in the Universe.

Yes I meant the hat. I'm Scottish so please forgive me. Lol. I like the way you can put the sides up. Gives it a bit of coolness. Many thanks. P.s. I noticed Jesus has closed his account?? Is that him now in total stealth mode from the BBC. Haha.... I'll miss his dulcet tones. Lol.

I should've filmed me-self at that moment Alan, and dubbed some comedy sound effect on, ha ha. If you watch the video, you can clearly see, that being in trouble was a million miles away, I think Matt just didn't fancy camping alone, on the Skerries. He got spooked on Staffa, last year, with the Manx Shearwater calls, mind you, they were incredibly spooky. When you spend sometime out there, you think you can hear human voices amongst the bird calls. I think it could drive you mad out there.
@GBPaddling11 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean the hat? ha ha. It's a 'Jack Pike' fishing hat, £10, got it, after losing my old 'Camel Trophy' one, that I'd had for years. The 'Camel' hat was 5 euros from Zanté, the Jack Pike, was from Warrington market, but I think any Angling shop would have them, or Amazon, or FleaBay, if nothing else. I can't be doing without a hat on, when the Sun's blazing, and sunglasses are essential as well, for me. Suncream on the nose would've made life easier, and Sunblock on the bottom lip, too

Having watched Matts video first and seeing how worried he was about you, I too see the importance of having some way to communicate with one another it could have very easily have gone bad,

You are precisely correct Karen. I have always had a handheld VHF Marine radio, and had one with me at the time.The fact is though, I was blissfully unaware that I was 'Missing in action' it's up to Matt to get one now, the Cheapskate, ha ha.

Cressy, he just didn't want to camp alone, on the Skerries, ha ha. I still don't know why he couldn't see me, when I could see him clearly. Maybe I blended in with the background. If you stop the video @4min 9secs you can see the Helicopter out in the bay, so they didn't have to come very far, and they love being called out, wouldn't you on a day like that?
@GBPaddling11 жыл бұрын
Well Brasher, now you know, ha ha. Just a huge misunderstanding really. If you stop the video @ 4min47, you can just about make Matt out. I could see him clearly, and could tell he was paddling back out, I assumed looking at a bird, or seal. I'd told him, we'd get swept down like that, and that we may have to 'tuck in' behind the Skerries to shelter from the tide. The other thing that puzzled me, was that it was flat calm, and I was never in any difficulty at all, lessons will be learned though.

Coo-ee, Mr Coastguard, ha ha. Just think, it could've been Prince Bill, himself? Hope he was concentrating, and not thinking about Pippa's derriere, he was after all sat in the correct position wasn't he? With his joystick in hand, ha ha.
