The "Water Purifier" packet contains batch 1 of eggs. Letting it sit for 24 hours gives them time to grow. The "Egg" packet contains batch 2 of eggs and the blue coloring so you can see the Sea Monkeys that you started yesterday.

The water purifier are the eggs and the "eggs" are a blue dye that make the sea monkeys visible because of how microscopic and clear they are. The reason it makes you wait overnight is to give the shrimp time to hatch. This makes it seem like the "sea monkeys" hatch instantly. It sure fooled me when I used to have it Edit: eh..I think you did it wrong...

Actually, when the brine shrimp first hatch they are incredibly tiny and can be mistaken for non-living debris. In the earlier footage, you can see tiny black things moving around; that was probably the baby shrimp. You didn't add the food packet so they starved to death and/or ate each other.

@nobodyimportant2470
@nobodyimportant2470 6 жыл бұрын
The point of the first packet was not to purify the water. It was to re-hydrate the eggs and let them hatch. Packet 2 doesn't contain any eggs but instead has a dye to make the shrimp that hatched over night easy to see. It is a magic trick where you make it look like they instantly come to life by misdirecting the audience into thinking the first packet is just cleaning the water.

When I got these guys, I started feeding them once a week starting when I put the eggs in. I'm not sure if you did that, but it's important! These guys are teeny tiny when they hatch, and most kits have a magnifying glass to help you see them when they're small. I kept these little dudes as pets for months before they fell ill and died. It might also be the the purifier just wasn't strong enough, since you over filled the water. They tell you to purify the water since most tap water has chlorine and such chemicals that can be really REALLY dangerous to hatching shrimp. (once they're older, they're a little bit more hardy, but to be safe, you should always use a de-chlorinator.

1: you fully disolve the purifier and wait 24hrs not overnight. 2: dont use tap water. 3: depending on temperature of water they can take up to a week to hatch. 4: Do not smoke use air fresheners or furniture polishes in the same room as the chemicals will get into the water and kill them. Oh and the spot is not undetermined, look on the side of the tank and there is a fill level.

Fun fact, the first packet is actually the brine shrimp eggs. You leave it 24hrs for them to grow to a decent size. The the second packet is just a dye. Basically you can’t see them until dye is added because they are so small and transparent. This therefore gives the illusion of “instant” growth

Just a couple tips here, Mike. 1. Don't use tap water . 2. The big secret to seamonkeys is the eggs are actually in the first package , so when you jostled around with your finger and the stir device , you may have damaged the viability of the rehydraded seamonkey eggs That were already in the tank . The pouched marked with a number 2 is only dye and food So you can actually see the damn things.

I have done several of these and they have always hatched within seconds. They are VERY small and you do need to feed them within a day or two. The #2 pack has the eggs and some food. But you still need to feed them regularly. I clearly say a few right after you put in the eggs, but did not see them again after that. Did you feed them?
@ObsidianStray
@ObsidianStray 8 жыл бұрын
They fare better in proper tank setups than these little cups. If you take good care of them and give them something like sand to lay eggs in, you can wait until they've died naturally and then dry out the tank. Once the sand has dried completely, the eggs will be primed to activate whenever they're rehydrated. (This is because the animals evolved to survive in cycles of rainy seasons and drought.) They aren't guaranteed to lay eggs every time, of course; you've got to take good care of them.

I'm surprised that the comments aren't littered with the fact that the gimmick is that the shrimp are actually in the "water purifying packet". It takes 24 hours because the shrimp take that long to become active (there are no "eggs" there are just brine shrimp that have gone into stasis). The 2nd packet is basically just a blue stain that makes the otherwise invisible shrimp become "instantly" visible. As to why Mike's shrimp seem to have died....dunno; don't really care, honestly. This was 3 years ago after all.

The eggs are actually in packet 2. That gives them 24 hours to hatch and packet 3 is a blue dye that makes them much more visible to our eyes. Instant hatching alas isn't real.

Sea monkeys need love to thrive, I was doing this by age 10 sucessfully. lol, I just hatched some, it took. 48 hours roughly, and it's cool out. "use distilled water"

the “purifying pouch” actually has the eggs in it. the 24hour waiting period is to let them grow big enough to see. the second pouch is to color shrimp as they are clear. if you never feed them they will die quite quickly.

To commenters. Instructions say no direct sunlight. The lights were off and we could clearly see in the room, so yes, they recieved indirect sunlight, so don't go there. Instructions said no food until day five. Instructions said to use bottled water. Depending on where you live, tap water is purified to the same level. So I doubt that was the problem. Also if seamonkeys died from a little finger being dipped into the water, they clearly wouldn't exist to begin with. Also, instruction didn't specify water level.

criptobiosis is why the shrimp come to life. They are brine shrimp. If the environment isn't suitable, they go into a "frozen" state for a while.

Mike, you’re obviously not seeing them. Plus, when they first hatch they’re SUPER tiny to see them. Here’s the things you did wrong to improve next time: 1. You didn’t feed them. When you feed them you’re supposed to see algae at the bottom of the tank. It’s PRETTY CLEAR that you haven’t been feeding them once a week. 2. You have to keep an eye on them ALL THE TIME. If you don’t keep an eye on them, you won’t see if they have hatched or not. My Sea Monkeys hatched within a couple of hours. 3. You didn’t use distilled water! Distilled water has the more nutrients for the Sea Monkeys rather than Tap Water. I used distilled water and they are as healthy as they can be! 4. You overfilled the tank! Now this may seem to us that this is not a big deal, but it’s a HUGE deal for the Sea Monkeys. Keeping the water at the line means you only have to do 1 pack of Water Purifier, and the Sea Monkey eggs! Hope you guys take my advice!:) Izzy

the “water purifier” actually contains the eggs. the second pouch is colouring, that makes them easier to see. they don’t actually hatch instantly. they’ve been hatching a whole 24hours before you add the “live eggs”.

Might be because you stuck your fingers/ the stirrer thing in the water after you purified it.
