This video is a guide to starting a Sea Monkeys Ocean Treasure tank kit.
In this video I give you some tips on how to grow sea monkeys to adulthood and we'll have a look at a time lapse of their growth under a microscope. I show you how to use heat mats to keep your tank warm and grow lights to promote the growth of green algae to help sustain a colony for many years to come.

@@cheesybear1337 The back of the food packet says it's ground vegetable powder, but tbh I"m unsure what it is exactly. Probably a mix of different dried algae powders if I were to guess

I love your videos! I was wondering if you have any tank cleaning tips/if I need to clean the tank at all?

@@josie-lynomalley9865 it’s not really necessary to clean their tank. Unlike fish, Sea Monkeys have an incredibly high tolerance to ammonia so cleaning isn’t that important. Any green algae growing in the tank will be a good food source for them too :)

Thanks for the video...thinking about adding the pink one to my collection, I still dont have a pink Sea-Monkey tank! Do you know the volume of water it holds? Is it just the same as the others? Great macro/microscope videos!

Hey Emilia :) I'm unsure of the volume but I would estimate it to be somewhere around 350ml - pretty much the same as the other Sea Monkey tanks. The flattened out shape is definitely nice for viewing them though.

The Sea-Monkeys often get stuck between the treasure chest and the front wall of the tank, so it’s not my favourite option. Otherwise the tank is fine though. Light is very dim

If you’re using distilled or spring water then yes :) I’ve done that with my last 2 Sea Monkey tanks and 1 month later they’re both doing really well. If you’re using regular tap water I would suggest waiting the 24 hrs

Hi picocosmos. How can i put my sea monkeys in a 2 gallons tank? I prepared the tank with the heater and the bubbles pump but when i pass them woth all the water to the new tank the second day they start to die. I feel so bad they are adults and have eggs. I do something wrong passing them to the bigger tank? They need salt or something?

I don’t believe there’s anything at the moment that lights up, though in the past there were a few options. I’m trying to get some 3D printed lids that can accommodate a light

Do you know if the Sea-Monkeys get stuck on the front or back of the Treasure chest? I've heard some rumors that since there is limited space between the tank wall and the chest, that they get stuck. I was thinking of trying to get this tank, but if that occurs, I might just get another Ocean Volcano instead. I like the design of this tank though. Great Video!

Yeah that’s true, they do get stuck. Seems like a bit of a design oversight for this tank. I’d recommend going with the Ocean Volcano instead 👍

It’s a bit more nuanced than that. I prefer the method of feeding them smaller amounts (perhaps only 1/3 of a small scoop from the feeding spoon) but more often. If the water is cloudy or you can see them pooping it’s not necessary to give them any food, but if the water is clear and they’re not pooping then you should probably feed them.

Unscrew the bottom and add a led light yourself of your choosing. That’s what I’m planning to do.
