The city tank looks so cool, reminds me of some post apocalyptic set from a movie or something.

mine are dying on week 3, I tried hard, I cannot find the reason. what is your water recipe? cleaning? Algae source? Thank you
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon2 жыл бұрын
I use Sea-Monkey brand packets #1 & #2 and mix those with 12oz of bottled distilled water. I don't clean anything... The tanks don't require it Algae grows in time. I use a warm environment and LED lights to stimulate growth. I hope you have more luck going forward!

Does it matter what type of air pumps you use? I’ve been looking around at different kinds, but I’m still a little confused about them with sea monkeys and I don’t wanna overwhelm them.
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon2 жыл бұрын
The brand of pump itself isn't really that important. I use pretty cheap ones. The important thing is to have a control valve so you can control the flow of air going into the tanks.
@alexandriawongso5062 жыл бұрын
what air pump and heater do you use? How do you control the output of the pump?
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon2 жыл бұрын
I use a pretty small USB powered air pump. I got it for about $8 on eBay. The air flow is controlled by small valves. You can pick them up from pet supply stores for a few dollars. I use a few things to regulate the temperature including: my home's thermostat/heating system, space heater in the room, heating mats, and LED lights.

Very cool video! I started my first sea monkeys tank a bit over a week ago. I have a few questions if you dont mind. Are all of your sea monkeys in their original tanks or have you ever moved them into new tanks part way through their lives? What are the tubes in the water? Thank you if you see this and get the chance to reply 😊 I love your tanks
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sophie! I'm excited about your new pets! Most of these colonies have lived in their current tanks. The Moon and City colonies originally started in basic glass jars but I moved them into their current tanks after about a month. The tubes are air lines coming into each tank. They are all connected to control valves and into one air pump.

Hello! I'm new to sea monkeys. I started my tank and my sea monkeys are growing well. I was wondering if it's ok to put a plant in the aquarium?
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon2 жыл бұрын
Most plants do not do well in salt water, so I'd be really careful with that.

The little square ones are called Sea-Monkey Mini World tanks. There's the Moon, Hang 10, and Beach. They are about 15 years old or so. I got mine on eBay.

What brand of heating device do you use? And what heating temperature is it at?

I use heating mats from a brand called Vivosun. LED Philips Hue lights are all around too. I don't let the room drop below 68°F ever. I also try to keep the tanks under 85°F.

You’ve inspired me to buy some sea monkeys of my own! I’m considering buying an air pump as well as a suction cup fish tank heater. Did you begin your sea monkeys without the heater and pump, then introduce it as they grow older? Or did you start off your sea monkeys in a heated and oxygen pumped tank?
@SeaMonkeyDudeJon2 жыл бұрын
I've been using the heating elements and aerating since day one.
