it is good, just a shame it only gives 1/5th or so renown and gold if it is not a mission :/ and the second fastest id say is during a skull island, if you go there and gets the key at the end you can get a lot of renown, only thing is that it is very competitive and time consuming so the way you did is indeed most probably the fastest way and second skull island or shipwrecks./gunpowder barrels could also be really good btw. like go to all the forts and pick the gunpowder barrels, to the next and next and then return to port and sell them for 125 or so each. And then just do the same route again! since it wont take too long to respawn. and if you also did a mission ontop of this that would be extra good.

Relyea a tip to use is selling the right golden animal to the right merchant .selling a golden chicken for voyage in golden sands and sanctuary will net u 1.5 to 1.8k gold compared to 1 k any where else it also works for pigs and snakes .snakes get better prices bottom right of the map and the top right of the map is for pigs

I just cancel any missions that dont involve atleast 2 golden animals. Just a little extra time at the bigging for alot more gold and xp at the end

First off when will you people understand this game is not about gold stop talking about how much gold you will get. It is about exp you will get over 1 mil easy by the time you reach legend no matter what u sell. Also this is not the fastest way. Fastest way is grab 10 of each gold animal with a gallion sail to Golden Sands or Sanctuary leave one person from your crew with half of the animals so 5 of each. Sail to the other outpost i mentioned and start selling and getting new voyages until u sold all of them.

Actually the quickest way is to just have your twitch followers message you right before they turn in their voyages and you just join their games and gain all the xp...

Relyea he may not be yours, but he is most certainly the first legendary pirate. I think it's trash that he got it the way he did but the fact of the matter is that he did do it unfortunately. The trash kid didn't even know dick about the game and I could destroy him in 1v4 all day. He's undeserving but I doubt they can take it from him. Although i would consider it exploiting and I think he should be suspended and have his SoT account reset.

Bad advice. You'll spend more time looking for all those animals as well as blowing all your bananas on feeding crying pigs than you will making money off them. This is because you have to go somewhere else when getting a merchant voyage; you can't "cheese" the merchant. It's better to just quit voyages until you get a golden animal, load up an online map that shows animal locations, and then just get what you need on the way to the proper outpost.

You might want to note, that this strategy is for levelling pup your merchant, not for the money. If anything it will put you in debt but will help you get that pirate legend a whole lot faster

It doesn’t take any time to “look” for the animals as there is a cheat sheet in the description. It tells you which animals are on which islands. Pigs do need food but it’s not that bad. Plus they pay more. It’s not like bananas cost you gold anyways. Re-rolling voyages until you get all gold animals would be true but now you can only get 3 voyages per person at an outpost. You can’t keep retooling forever until you get a gold animal. Sometimes you get unlucky.

For using this method better only get gold a black animals and when you are finding a voyage that your actully gonna do keep cancelling voyages until you get one that has loads of gold and black(since they are the most valuable) Also if you are doing a different quest it’s a good idea to grab a merchant crate (by cancelling the voyage) and get some extra money added on to the voyage your doing for order of souls or gold hoarders by grabbing some golden animals

Tip with the snakes, once you collect it don’t rush back or jump just walk and it won’t bite you. It might suck because of how much longer it will take but it saves you having the venom on your face and possibly dying from the snake.

You'll know the pig needs a banana when it's sitting down and crying, and you can only feed it when you're standing directly in front of its mouth. Otherwise, your controller will just vibrate and you will still have all 5 bananas in your inventory.

I’ve been grinding merchant alliance but not storing mass crates. I have however been disbanding voyages till they specifically want gold animals. Highest selling and most reputation gained. I’m almost level 40 with them sitting on 160k gold.

If your going to disban the voyages you might as well pick up the crates... you paid for them. An extra 100-200 gold ads up over time. If nothing else at least pick up the chicken crates as they are easy to deal with

Advice to other Merchants...Yeah, I'm sure a ton of people have said it, BUT YOU NEED TO ONLY DO BLACK & GOLD ANIMAL VOYAGES... everything else is really a waste of time, they just don't net you enough gold or rep for the time put in. Also you should buy three merchant voyages before you start, log out and log in... the voyage stock will reset and allow you to get the extra crates on start up and a bigger chance to land a good voyage. Good Voyage = 2 black + 1 gold, Great Voyage = 2 or more black + 2 or more gold. DONT STOCK UP ON GOLD PIGS, THEY WILL EAT EVERYTHING U OWN lol.

We did this again tonight and I went from lv 14 to lv 19 in a couple hours with some messing around in the middle. There are 4 types of each animal, (snakes , chickens and pigs). We found that you generally want to have two of each chicken and pig and will need less snakes to complete the missions. It was not hard to finish off quite a few missions. I want to say we finished a good 5 or 6 voyages and might have had to stop for one animal here and there. Let me know if there is anything else you would like explained or if you have any tips. Always looking for more good ideas.

My understanding is that you get more xp when part of a voyage. If I could have more than one pirate I’d test with a new one. To be certain but for now I’d put money on it you only want to turn in on voyage

So what actually happens is that you grab all those crates, hunt all those animals and then get sunk and or boarded by another group of players and you loose everything in one swoop! Oh and animals being hit by cannons kills them off as well. This is A high risk strat that could end up with you spending ages for nothing.

Or you could just do the voyage that you had for that crate in the first place, because the chances of getting back to back merchant voyages to deliver to the same outpost are pretty slim, let alone 3 or more in a row

The point is this... When you go to an island, a lot of times they have tons of chickens, snakes and pigs. With this method you pick them all up at once. When you turn in one voyage (and pick up a new one) all you have to do is sail to the next outpost and turn in. The normal way has you go from outpost to island, island to outpost. Then you waist time SAILING back to an island to pick up more animals when You were already there. This method cuts a TON of sail time

A good way to level merchant is to stop at any inactive fort while doing hoarder or order voyages and pick up the 3-6 powder barrels that way you can level without even touching the worthless voyages

Why are they worthless? It's actually the fastest money method for a solo player. I did two Gold Hauler Captain voyages in a row today, got a bunch of marauders, seafarers and castaways. For about 20 chests and 2 hours of my life, I earnt 5k. That's peanuts compared to selling golden animals.

Only collect golden animals, sell them and cancel. Fastest way is to travel between sanctuary and golden sands Since it is only 3-5 minutes each way.

if I am "cheesing the merchant" I usually just go out and get as many gunpowder kegs as I can and turn them in yeah it doesn't give much rep or a lot of gold but I have gained two or three levels just doing that. also if you are vigilant and don't care about time you can get a lot of levels just finding random stuff on the islands, I have found numerous captain's chests just lying around and bounty skulls in the sands. and if you are sailing and you see a glitter on a beach it could be either a message in a bottle or a random piece of gold hoarder booty. and you can usually find animal crates on some islands for free.

i sunk a guy last week that had like 50 crates full of critters. they all died before they floated up... interesting because i never knew they would die/dissapear like that. Lesson learned, dont leave your caged critters floating in the water.

Relyea That's a good question. We had ten or fifteen piled up in the Captains quarters and just about killed the game. All audio died, and lag went through the roof. Was fixed as soon as we spread them out a bit. Seemed like it may have been an issue with the audio of all the different animals coming from the same small location.

The Quickest way to cheese Merchants Alliance is stacking coops and snake baskets, capturing only gold snakes and gold chickens and turning them in at each outpost, only if the mission requires a gold snake or gold chicken, otherwise, cancel the voyage until another gold pops up. If the merchants runs out of voyages (from cancelling) go to another outpost to reset.

This is exactly it. It’s like being able to see what your going to get paid ahead of time. You can do a goal hoarders mission but you might only get a seafarer chest. Which the merchant alliance you can only chose to set sail on “captains chests” (gold animals)

It would be better if the "Voyage Complete" screen gives you xp/gold and the chests will just give you the rest of the xp/gold. like the VC will be like 75% or so or 50% of xp/gold and then the chest/skulls will be the remaining %. Tired of doing all the treasure quests and all the hard work for some losers to come in and attack me and take everything.

I don’t know how to measure the rep to be honest. But for the gold, a golden chicken normally pays 177 gold and on a voyage 1,103 gold (almost 6x). I would imagine that the same would hold true for rep. Only turn in on a mission if you can

No one ever talks about the voyage reset with the merchants. Yea you can spam the crates for 3 voyages then they run out of voyages to buy for a certain amount of time. I believe. But that's my point, who knows this fact cuz I would love to know cuz every damn video of this exploit NEVER explains what they do to reset the voyages

yeah I ran into that problem pretty quickly lol, but even if you don't stockpile crates, and simply just take all the golden animal missions you can get until you gotta server hop, its still a very good method. can usually rack in around 6k before running out of missions

If you're with another crew mate. Leave the game and join him again. Because he stayed, your animals are still there. After the relog, the quest bar will be full again.

Honestly, it just happened.... I didn’t even realize the 3 voyage limit until I tried again last night. It may be that I did not pay to upgrade my merchant quests until last night....? I’m not entirely sure. When I made this video we could have gotten an unlimited number of crates and didn’t even realize there was a limit. I will test more when I get a chance!

You will have to relieve wherever the merchant says. Once you have enough extra animals you should be able to complete several voyages all at once by sailing direct from port to port avoiding animal islands

It’s a Gold cheese. The rep is good and all but the time to get black and gold animals to their respective outposts is pretty time consuming. Well worth if you have the time and need to make stable income. Chests and Bounties are cool but the rng is not worth the farm

Your going to have to get animals to outposts as part of voyages anyways. With this tactic you have a chance to retoll which outpost you go to if it’s too far away

I tried this the other day and started to sail off with 10 chickens and 5 snakes just to test it out, everything went silent and all the chickens had died randomly as I set off? I think I hit a glitch or they patched it out. Just sail off on the third voyage and pick up more when you get to the next spot. This method works best if your going to grind for a while. If your only going to sails one or two voyages, probably best to just do it normal

It honestly doesn't save that much time at all really, considering you still have to go to different outposts, you're just collecting animals that you potentially won't need, at least if you're doing it by the order you're only getting the ones you definitely need. Also if you know the map properly then there are islands on the way with what you need 90% of the time.

This saves you from having to go from outpost to island. Sometimes you get a voyage for... chickens... but a chicken island is out of the way. With this you can get a TON of chickens and not have to stop for a while. It’s almost like filling ur car up with gas. The more gas (animals) you have, the less you have to stop to fill up.

Relyea No but it's pretty pointless, because you're going to outposts constantly anyway and animals are usually on the way, and you can get the cages while you're there. By stacking up animals that you potentially won't use, that's a waste of time. You may be able to sell them after anyway..but that gives hardly any rep and gold. It's more efficient to get the animals you Actually need when you need them. After hundreds of hours playing the game, honestly..it's less efficient overall. It's also nothing like filling a car with Gas; all the gas will definitely be used, but not all the animals that you've collected will get used, there is just a chance of it.

You don't have to go to different outposts. You just leave all the animals at an outpost in a bush with one of your crew members. The other 3 go to another outpost and spam voyages until the guy can turn them in. (If you go to Plunder outpost and get voyages that send you to Ancient Spire, then as long as you don't complete the entire voyage then you will get Spire as the destination 100% of the time. Same goes with golden sands and sanctuary I think). So the only sailing you're doing is 1] to mermaids hideaway to get nothing but golden chickens. 2]to golden sands to drop off chickens and one crew member. 3] to sanctuary where you spam vote voyages.

Did you really say that the snakes will "eat" the chickens and pigs? You do realize that in order for them to do that they would in turn have to leave the cage that they're in and enter the cage that the other animal is in, neither of which is possible nor is the coding for the snake to eat anything in the game. What the snake actually does is spit its venom at any living creature that gets close enough to it so in turn it will spit as Venom at the chickens and pigs in the opposite crates until they are dead. Just wanted to make sure I clarified that for you and anyone else who may have caught that.

Yes, you can only grab 3 voyages per person. Grab as many cages as you can and only grab gold animals. The more in depth cheese of forcing animals to be turned in at a specific outpost was patched

U should do his only when u think your mission is to bad. We just scrap all the missions with not even 2 gold animals or atleast 4 black ones. Do the mission straight takes only like 15 minutes. What do you mean? You still need to select and finish a voyage. You never just want to turn in without a voyage active. You get roughly 7x golf and rep when a voyage is active. “commendations are unlocked when the player reaches a specific promotion, delivers specific crates or hits other targets while on voyages with the Merchant Alliance.”

the last 30 secs made no sense. once you cancel a voyage it's gone. you can't reload it later after you cancel it, so how can you find the missions for your particular animal if you've cancelled more missions than not? The only way around this is before you cancel the mission, you have to find out where to turn them in, which outpost. make a note, right it down, because when you cancel that mission and turn in one outpost for all, you'll lose tons of gold. Like your last Gold Chicken was only 130, where it should have been 1030 if you turned it in at the outpost where the mission said to before you cancelled. You should update this video. Plus the Black chicken is worth 1036.

The idea is to collect a bunch of chickens gold, and black. Only way to get enough cages is to start a mission, pick up a cage then cancel so you can go get more cages. Only turn in when you are able to complete a full mission and there are several golds

They quests will always disappear after you cancel. Now there are only 3 available voyages per person at the vendor. Having 2 people and picking up 6 voyages, completing one and picking up and other 6 is plenty. You will have enough cages to get every gold and black animal from an island and then go outpost to outpost

You only want to turn in on a voyage. Once you finish one voyage, start a new one and sail straight to the outpost. This saves you the time it takes to stop at different islands. Also only helps on longer play sessions

Carlos Jaeger right but here is the logistical error you buy voyages which cost gold you go to an island and collect as many pigs chicken and snakes you can find which many are valueless unless they are black and gold you go to turn in and collect gold alright you accept the next voyage and it's most likely going to make you travel to another outpost I have already tried this approach and the only value in it is in the low ranks of the marchent faction where the voyages are too cheap to matter otherwise just doing the mission and just profiting on extra crates and cargo you find is better use of ur time I have been accepting a marchent mission and placing the cages on my boat so I'll be less tempting to rob but yeah rank fifteen and higher you just starting cutting even on money

It’s about getting the rep up and less about the gold. Even a white chicken will give 100 gold if I remember right (if turned in with a voyage). Plus you can always have someone who is lower level buy all the missions for a cheaper price and then turn in on a higher level voyage. That said your totally right. If you end up turning in a ton of animals and not turning in on missions you end end up wasting a bunch of gold

He is right, if you turn in a golden chicken normally you only get 177 gold while a white chicken only gives 25 ish gold. You get roughly 6x gold while on a mission. Only makes sense to turn in on missions. If you pick up lots of gold animals and only sail on gold voyages then this makes some sense. It may not be perfect but I enjoy it

I dont think you really thought this through, missions cost money so you will make half as much money by starting missions and canceling them and it could take longer because you could spend all your time collecting animals you dont end up needing.

It’s more about gaining as much rep as quickly as possible and less about the gold. A single golden chicken will give you 1k gold which is a nice profit compared to the 20-100 cost (depending on level) to get a cage. With this method you can choose to only complete voyages with golden animals

When you land on an island you pick up all the animals. Now you can sail direct from outpost to outpost to complete multiple voyages. It saves time but not having to sail out of your way to an island with an animal and then back to an outpost. This method only works if your going to grind it out for a while. If you only have time for one or two voyages then do it normal
