idk, i been a solo slooper and you can 100% get in to it that way, is great playing with friends but if you learn how to control your ship alone you will become so much better at the game is insane.

1. use a sloop for 1-2 players, brig with 3, galleon with 4. Never use less on the larger ships. 2. Dropping your anchor should be a thing you never do. While there is some niche situations for an anchor drop and doing what is called an anchor turn, good rule of thumb leave it alone. You can slow down by bringing up your sails. 3. The best place for a keg is on someone else's ship. 4. Never trust another pirate.
@jjopification
@jjopification 7 ай бұрын
Regarding 2 I mostly agree, but I want to add that it’s totally fine to drop the anchor if you raise it right after that. For example when you want to park somewhere. It’s way faster and precise to go where you want to park, drop the anchor, then raise sails and the anchor after that immediately. When you just raise sails you always tend to drift farther than you might want to go, which is especially annoying when wanting to park in front of the sovereigns harpoons or at a certain dock.

^ This. There are very few situations where putting the anchor down means immediate danger. It's important to have discipline. Try to stop the ship with the sails alone, anchor if needed, immediately raise sails, then anchor when doing so.

Veteran Pirate here. The key to not getting burned out on this game is variety. Try to avoid doing the same voyage too often. Pre-plan voyages with your shipmates like what factions to level up or what commendations to complete during the week. The best way to not get burnt out on PVP is not to seek it, you let it seek you, and it will. Being the one on the receiving end of a surprise attack gives you more survival experience, and the defeated attacker is often carrying loot for your taking. And please, take breaks from this game no matter how obsessed you are with playing it. Go play something else with your friends in between. Give yourself a reason to long back.

Veteran here too, playing since release, one tip i give is, play with friends, specially talltales, they are a lot of fun, don't take it serious, and you are 100% going to lose to other crews at some point, maybe often, so, dont consider the loot yours before it is turned into gold.

Please note that the tall tale menu does not put the tales in cronilogical order. The individual arcs are in order, but the arcs go as followed "The shores of gold" arc "Seabound Soul" tale "Heart of fire" tale "Pirates life" arc "Monkey island" arc

12:38 As a primarily solo pirate, you’re right about the game being designed to be better with a full crew (whether that be 2 on a sloop or 4 on a galley). It’s still an enjoyable experience for those who like to take on the challenge, especially if you seek pvp as a solo like I do. It’s certainly not for everybody, you have to manage everything all at once and often use strategy to get what you want more than you would on a fully crewed ship. The appeal for most solos is the rush of defying the odds and coming out on top. Being solo has been made easier over the years but it’s still considered to be the unofficial hard mode for the game, so if you’re someone who enjoys cranking up the difficulty you might enjoy giving it a try once you’ve learned enough about the game to be comfortable on your own.

Hey, 800+ hours pirate here. About the Voyages: I usually don't do voyages. Most of the times I go for world events, it depends if there is any commendation Im looking foward to farm. BTW, once you finish the main quests "tall-tales", you get the true sea of thieves message, which is: "Its not about the gold, its about the glory". Its not about the loot, its about the moments you create, the pvp battles, the pve battles, the first time you see a megalodon, that hard pvp that you won, that huge loot you sold that day after 6h hours of gameplay hahaha. SOT is about this, is about creating memories in a pirate sandbox. A quick feedback I would like to leave on what you said in the video about playing alone: it is totally possible and fun for you to play Sea of Thieves alone. Maybe 80% of my gameplay time is "solo sloop", which is the small ship (for 1 or 2 players).

Launch player here. Solo Slooper is so viable. It's not as hard as you think. Especially once you know what you're doing. Just keep you're eyes on the horizon and your anchor up. Do Tall Tales in Safer Seas Since you don't get Gold or Rep anyway. That way no one messes with you. You can use the Houseglass on your Quest Table to queue for PvP. You don't have to go bothering the innocent Pirates out on the Open Seas. Some of them might also just destroy you.

Hello! just wanna throw a few tips out to improve your skills! Try tampering with your settings for example, you're audios sfx is very important to watch out for boarders but make sure to max out your FOV. For you're pvp skills i suggest you do order of souls to get the mech of the different weapon varients, as well as the rep 15 or up (im not sure) ghost ship voyages this will introduce you to the cannon mech as well as, sails, repairs, and steering for angles. I hope you do well out there please make another video you're doing well out here! See you on the sea's hehehe

Vet Pirate here. A lot of these comments are saying things that I would've said, lots of good info here. I'll add two things; 1. Crew size matters a lot. If I'm solo, and go up against another sloop that has 2 players, and they're each 1/2 as good as me, my odds of winning that fight sometimes seems 40-60, their favor. PARTICULARLY solo, where one death might mean failure. So, you're observation of galleons having it easier in that respect is true. 2. For naval combat, you know that the slower you go, the sharper your turn radius can be. So, if you're on a sloop, raise your sail to about half-length way sooner than you think, and start turning way sooner than you think. You'll figure out the rest. You're well on your way, well done!

Veteran Pirate here. me and my crew have barely if ever done any voyages, maybe a gold vault every once in a while or a tall tale. Mostly we do PvP, if you only have 2 players you should be using a sloop, they are incredibly durable, one person can easily manage it while the other fights. use the right ship for your crew size, brigantine is for 3 players and galleon is for 4. PvP it mostly is experience to get better. The PvP is good, and by far my favorite part of the game and where i make the most friends in game.

I am a new player as well, but for a quick PvP tip: The starter canons have three rings around them. The one closest to the muzzle should align with an enemy ship that is short distance from you. The medium for medium distance. And so on. Helped me so far be able to get my accuracy better.

As promised, I subbed. Also, Vet here, Solo kind of can be boring at times but it forces you to be attentive. You can also form alliances, in which each ship of the alliance makes a part of every other ships sale with no deduction to their pay. So don’t be afraid to mingle. May find some crew mates. Keep playing! 😊

From what you described from your experience in pvp battles on a sloop, it's not so much about getting gud as much as organizing your crew roles correctly. For ANY ship there should ALWAYS be ONE person literally GLUED to the cannons, PERIOD! that means if we are talking about the sloop then whoever is on the helm has one hell of a job because sloops helm is in charge of: keeping angle, sail/speed management, bucketing, repairing, calling out shots for cannoneer so that the cannoneer knows shots priority, telling cannoneer how is the aim (cause often times cannoneer doesn't see shit cause of the waves and shoots blind), boarder defense in case somebody tries to board your ship, and if situation allows for it, mast repairs too. That way your cannoneer doesn't have to leave cannons and stop pressuring the enemy just cause mast needs repairs. Helming on a sloop is by far the hardest role you can have on any ship. P.S. When it comes to who should board enemy ships that purely depends on your crews personal prefference and who is a good boarder but I will share my thinking on the subject which I honestly think it makes the most sense. Cannoneer has to also be a boarder in my opinion cause if you get stable shots and angle going then your cannoneer boards that then means that when you as a helm get on cannons to keep shooting while he is on enemy ship, more than likely you have 2 things going for you in that situation already 1. You are already in stable rotation cause you know what you did on the helm and 2. Cannoneer already adjusted the height of the cannons for you just due to the simple fact of them bein on cannons entire time so you can immediately start landing hits

Dude. Great video. I started to play the game 5 days ago. Am olaying solo. But regarding pvp is just about understanding how to move with ur vesel. Giing in circles is the best way . And every 2 circles change the direction. I already won 5 battles against a crew of 2. Playing solo is the best for me. Keep the good work. I subscribed❤

Solo Slooper here, I think that's the best way to learn the combat. I never win yet, but I usually get attacked by Brigs or Galleons. I really enjoy the PvE part of this game! I don't like knowing that I can have all my time wasted by another person or crew, so I typically stay away from combat. I understand the PvP of this game it's just not in my nature to ruin someone else's game where they may have spent hours, hours away from their family to enjoy a game. Nope not wanting to ruin that.

This review is spot on for me. Solo became boring for me, and I’m still fairly new-ish. So I jumped on the discord and managed to find a fellow British player who had an American friend and we went out on a brig as a guild and I’ve had so much more fun. Definitely easier and more enjoyable with more people. Solo restricts you for fully enjoying the game. Say you want to do a world event with waves of enemies and mini bosses and a main boss.. it takes so long to complete as a solo. The main bosses have so much health you end up chipping away at them for so long until they die, then if you eventually manage to sell the loot after the constant back and forth of loading/unloading, the final payoff after hours of gameplay just doesn’t feel worth it at all. The naval PVP combat is where it’s at if you’re solo, to get better at the mechanics of PVP. But anything else is just too much of a grind as a solo.

About 1200hrs played. I do enough voyages to get my emissary rep up for Reapers then spend my time hunting other emissaries. When a servers dead, I'll still finish a fort or run through a skelly fleet here and there. The extra gold doesn't hurt.

For pvp I say first thing if you only got one mate, just switch to sloop. There are some that think for 2 people brig is better because 2 cannons mean both you and your mate can shoot at the same time but trust me, leave the brig to 3 player crews. Then by the sounds of what you described in the pvp section of the video you may be a bit too worried about repairs. Try to get a feel for when repairs are really needed and when a bucket every few seconds is enough. Most important is to keep pressure up on the enemy so cannon and steering to keep angle are the things taking priority. Helmsman goes down and repairs only when he knows that for the time it takes to repair, the cannoneer keeps on having angle on the enemy ship. and as I said before. sometimes it is just smarter to leave the repairing of the holes for later and just bucket everytime you have a short window to get away from the wheel. (unless there is too many hols and the water just comes in too fast, you just have to play for longer to get a feel for when to do what). Cannoneer should only ever leave cannons when he is loosing angle (its the helm's job to make sure that doesn't happen) or when going for a board. Then you and your cannoneer should try to keep the enemy off of cannons when you are in their broadside to reduce the damage they can do. Either aim for their canon line with your own cannons or use the eye of reach. Getting good with that will make your life so much easier over all. I mean flint lock pistol could also work if you are good but it's still a handycap compared to the sniper. But with any tips you read including mine, don't be afraid from straying from them either if something else seems more fun. Like if sailing on the brig with only 2 people seems more fun to you then go for it. At the end of the day, this game is about having fun with your buddies and you will find your own way the longer you play and I hope these tips helped you to find it. See ya on the seas!

I think a good duo can take on anyone. The sloop is one of the hardest ships to sink or I should say one of the slowest. It can be hard to keep pressure on the other crew to sink them but if you have a solid person on helm they can keep them in angle so one person can shoot over and keep them from repairing while they keep shooting the canon

Solo Slooper with 950 hours currently. I still do voyages constantly, usually because doing anything else is dangerous for a solo Slooper and I'm not great at pvp. I enjoy the beauty of the game and the lore of the world. I got burned out and avoided pvp because back in the day players used to board, spawn kill, and have another on their crew bucket your ship to keep it alive just so they could keep killing you repeatedly until you scuttle. Either that or all I would run into was the arena lords back when that was a thing. Pvp is better with someone else to me because I can focus on keeping the ship alive while they do better at PVP than me lol

Use the sloop as 2 people! It is far more nimble and easy to operate than any other ship - its kind of objectively the best ship in the game, the bigger ships may have more cannons, be faster with the wind, or sink slower - but nothing beats the nimble sloop!

Its probably been said here in the comments somewhere, but if there is only 2 of you you should sail on a sloop, at least until you're at a high enough skill cap that you can challange yourself a little, but generally speaking anything over a sloop is very rough to man without more than 2 players. That would probably be part of why you're struggling in your PVP battles.

That pvp segment sounding really toxic. NGL. Did you know, real pirates rarely if at all attacked other pirates. Stealing, yea sure, when a personal grudge was involved. But prolonged ship battles, cannonballs and wood flying everywhere, not cost effective. Even guns, open combat wasnt really a thing either. Think of them more for intimidation rather than just slaughtering entire crews. But if ive learned anything in my short time playing SOT. Its to just stay radio silent and treat every single approaching vessel as a potential threat and go the other direction and anyone rocking any pvp or reaper cosmetics just screams i get my rocks off tormenting, bullying, harrassing, and griefing other players who just want to chill and play the game.
