Wow, I've been fly fishing for many lesser known trout species my whole life, I've never heard of sea run brook trout! This is awesome

Sea run brookies are Arctic char but I could be mistaken

Same here. When I was a kid Grampa and I would fish the Cowlitz River for "Harvest Trout", sea run Cutthroats. A rainbow of course is a Steelhead. Never heard of sea run Brooke Trout.

The most wonderful part of fly fishing is the sheer diversity of environment, location, and species of trout/ grayling/ salmon. Everything from English chalk stream. To the wilds of North America. New Zealand. Northern Europe. South America. Ponds to Rutland Water in England. Highland Lochs. To the Great Lakes. A world of choices and memories.

In the heli you could scout so much of that for the best possible spots. Not that many trees that far north either.

What’s the difference between sea run and Arctic char ?
@BCyr19912 жыл бұрын
This is a weird question, like asking the difference between pike and musky. They are distinctly different species.

Do the locals consider these sea run brookies a type of east coast steelhead ?
@ashtonmakowsky98382 жыл бұрын
Lol what....obviously not. First off they arent steelhead and they arent "east"

I wonder if higher numbers of them would be had on a euro nymphing technique? I’m genuinely curious has anyone fished here using a euro technique?

Your carbon footprint is bigger than the fish! Just saying.... catch and release is great but gotta look at the BIG conservation picture.
