Sea to Summit - Playa de Las Americas to El Teide Summit - Zero to 12,188 feet - Tenerife Hiking

Will I make it this time to the summit of El Teide in Tenerife? After the disappointment two years ago I return to have another attempt at reaching the summit. I start at the beautiful beach in Playa de Las Americas at sea level and walk to the bus and then up to the cable car at 2,300 metres. The cable car then ascends 1200 metres in 7 minutes to 3,500 metres. There is then a 90 minute hike up the steep rocky path to the summit at 3,715 metres. Will I cope with the thinning air at this altitude and finally make it to the summit?
Recommended to book 3 months in advance.

WELL DONE Richard! I know that had to be exhausting climbing to the top! That's how I felt when I moved out here to the Rocky Mountains and would climb up to 12,000 feet. Wow, what a challenge! The views you showed were outstanding!! SO beautiful!👍

I did find it difficult to breathe up there Jeannette so I went up very slowly at the back of the group so I could also film. I pleased to have finally made it

I stayed in Tenerife for 6 months last year, booked a Teide visit 3 times and they all got cancelled due to bad weather or lift maintenance! You were lucky, Richard! It's nice you came back to the island! Nice video, mate! Thanks🙏🙂👍 Permit should be free if you book online but have to wait for 3 months at least.

Hi Ross, it’s definitely frustrating having it called off last minute but it does make it sweeter when you finally make it to the top. I savoured every moment and would not be rushed by the guide as I thought well I’m here now I’m not only spending 15 minutes at the summit. Hope you make it next time, never give up 👍😄
