You’ve created some of the most realistic track I’ve ever seen. Whenever I’m on Google Earth just looking for prototype inspiration, I’ve noticed the variation in the colour of the ties under the rail. Too often modellers miss this detail. You’ve absolutely nailed that effect!

Thanks! I appreciate it. Something I notice while I am working is how they vary depending on their age.

I have been following your channel since your introduction and review of the Proto Throttle DCC controller you use. You have a gift. You know how to make it look so realistic. If I didn't already know it was a model scene I would think it was the view from a drone. Very well done sir. I loved your old layout and was a little sad to see you dismantle it, but this new layout is looking amazing and is going to be a masterpiece.

Thanks so much for the awesome comment David. The first layout was pretty much a learning layout. I used it to experiment and try new techniques and ideas. With this one I’m still learning but I want to really try to push myself to exceed my expectations. Thanks again for following along! Tim

Tim!!! Not only are you fine railroader, you are a beautiful artist. Your creativity and detail are second to none. My father was a Superintendent with NS in the NS/NW coal fields. My brother and I both have followed in out footsteps. Allen is a good friend of ours, and we talk every so often.

Another fantastic video, Tim, thank you! I think what sets a layout apart are the details, the attention to detail in all facets, and trackside details really make the scene!

Thanks! I agree the details can make a huge difference but for me the most important is color and texture. It’s always a struggle for so many to get it right. That’s why I am always striving to master that skill and pushing myself to try new ideas. Stay tuned! More to come! Tim

Tim, here's an idea, get yourself a big bottle of Elmer's white glue and fill up the small bottle of scenic cement halfway up and fill the rest with water this way you can have you enough to last a long time.

Looking great Tim! I like how you added the mud puddles and lots of texture to the parking area. Is it common to have derails on yard tracks? I can imagine it would be easy to miss removing them and put a car on the ground. How do you like the derails by Scotty's Model Shop? I am very happy with mine, Scott did a nice job on them. I am looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the next episode. -Tom
@SeaboardCentral
@SeaboardCentral Жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom! In some cases, yes there are derails on individual yard tracks. GE Yard on the Stone Mountain Industrial park is a good example. I had to do it this way because there wasn’t enough room on the lead between the yard ladder switch and mainline. I really like the derails but I have had to shave them down to get them below the railhead when open. An Athearn Genesis unit would hit them otherwise. And they’re fragile. I’ve already messed two up and had to make them part of the scenery as evidenced by the two on the pallet.
@ThomasKlimoski

Well! You've done it now!? Snakes are going to be in the old crossties, the guys are going to twist an ankle in the parking lot, and possibly fall in a mud hole. I hope the Seaboard Central has workman's comp? On a serious note, this has been interesting, and man, this makes quite a bit of difference in the scenes. Thanks for sharing

The ties in the pile look larger and longer than those under the rails. Is that just perspective from the camera? I realize there is ballast around those under the rails.
@SeaboardCentral
@SeaboardCentral Жыл бұрын
The ties in the pile are actual wooden ties that I have stained a few years ago. I forget the brand but they probably are a little larger than the Micro Engineering plastic ties.
