@@SeaboardCentral I was wondering how they are numbered if the main cuts through the middle. Or does that not really happen?
@SeaboardCentral Жыл бұрын
@@jdboyd1861it all depends. In Griffin, GA the main splits the yard. On one side it is called North Yard and the other is South Yard. In both cases they are still numbered with track one next to the main. So you have SY01 and NY01.

Looking good... The staging "ballast" looks effective from a normal viewing distance... Always like to see your weathering, be it rolling stock, motive power (love the way SC "buys" power and stencils on its original paint) or scenery. Those old SD's look great and I certainly love the sound files... I remember the early days of sound long ago and with the modern speakers and the tuning possibilities, those old school sound setups (often in a dummy unit just because every component was still huge by comparison) pale by comparison. Glad to hear you're writing some articles, as well! Keep up the great work :)

Hi Tim, thanks again for an insight into your layout and Model-building. I'm looking forward to the Yard Ballast article in Model Railroader magazine, because that is something I would like to copy for my own layout. At the moment, all I have done to simulate Ballast in the Yard is Grey Emulsion paint over 3mm Cork & 12mm Plywood Baseboards. Also, the Fuel-pad and associated equipment is another interest I have. Thank you for posting.

You've certainly got your work cut out for you, finishing the yard. But you're off to a good start. Installing and wiring the Tortoise switch machines will be a job of work all by itself. If you could somehow rotate the entire modular subassembly 90° upright, so you had direct access to the underside, it might facilitate the installation. In any case, good luck and good progress. We'll be watching for updates. P.S: the upgraded locos look and SOUND great!

Hey Tim, i would leave Gadson Yard the way it is The Paint you used on the road bed is outstanding I would Leave it completely alone... The way it looks right now is outstanding way to cut costs when building a layout ..... You may have just saved your self a ton of money by doing the ballast look the way you did... I would have done the same thing using that paint as it actually makes the Track work stand out more to the naked eye.. Hats off for a job well done! Looking forward to what the future holds for the Seaboard Central.. Cheers From Northern Michigan

Hi Tim, Very interested in the yard you're doing. Unless I missed it from a previous segment, what is the depth of the yard to the backdrop? I really like the texture paint you used, it definitely gives you that realistic appearance. Without giving away the forthcoming article, is the paint out of a can, such as sand paint? I've used the texture spray paint on a couple of dioramas that I've done with nice results, but it tends to be pricey. Looking forward to the next video and the MR article. Steve

Curious to see what linkage you will use for the yard Tortoise machines to move the tiebar. I have consistently used an "Anderson" linkage rather than making large holes under the points. Easy and much more flexible when you have many turnouts tightly spaced. Or have you already drilled the holes for a Tortoise (by Circuitron) wire through the baseboard?

Why not use push and pull rods for the yard. You use manuel derails so switch controls would fit right in AND save you a ton of money. You might also consider doing articles for RMC as well. Enjoying your railroad and ops videos very much. Bill

Yes, I draw all my track plans. Been doing it for years. I do have the book, but I just mainly use Google Earth to see how the prototype arranges the tracks in the area that I am modeling then I customize it to fit my space.
