Have you replaced the reverse cable? I believe mine broke. Basically it’s stuck in reverse. Please keep the videos coming! There aren’t many people with this boat. Also… boat is amazing huh?

Hey Olson. Yes I have replaced the cable before but mine actually didn’t need a new one. After removing I noticed it was stuck just added wd40 and it was good. But still ended up installing new cable. Boat is really good but the last owner that had mine didn’t take care of it much so I’m still trying to make time to fix the rest. Thanks for watching!!

@@irebuild unfortunately, where the cable attaches to the metal part… that metal part broke. I believe it’s discontinued so I’m starting the process of internet searching… yikes

Hi there wondering if you could help me troubleshoot something. Does your reverse gate have any "play" in it? Thr symptom im having is sometimes while underway in forward if I switch into reverse to brake my gate appears to not engage into reverse and I actually end up accelerating more forward. Like hitting your brake pedal in your car and having it accelerate forward instead. I'm wondering if it is due to my reverse gate being "loose" its been properly aligned as far as up/down position is concerned just wondering what could be causing it to not go and stay down when I switch to reverse from forward. Help/oppionion would help a fellow utopia lover out! 🍺

Hey Tony. Try adjusting the cable by the accelerator and in the back. Also those cables can’t have any play at all or you’ll lose tension in the cable and can cause your problem that won’t engage properly. Thanks for watching.

Which bearing did you replace? Did you do it yourself or a shop ? I have grinding noise in my 2001 utopia ONLY at low speed is the lower unit bearing .

Yes I did it myself . I replaced all the lower unit bearings and sleeves. Not a hard job , most the work is lowering the unit and disconnecting from the motor witch takes about 2 hrs.

Your best luck is get your vin and go to a marina and they will find a part number. That’s how I started to find something out till I found a website that had almost everything I needed. But I don’t remember the site. Hope this helps and good luck !!

I have the same boat, it will run fine for like 30 min before the rpm will start to drop, any idea why this happens? It drops and then shoots back up

Don’t quote me on this one, but I would look at plug wires first. Might be going out and when you loose power it might be shorting out. Hope this helps and you find your problem. Thanks for watching and follow for more on the boat.

Hey, I just bought a 2003 Utopia 205 and I cant get the engine to run smoothly and power up. It keeps bogging down and doesn't want to accelerate. I bought the boat from a guy and the boat wasnt used at all for 2 years. Any recommendations on where i could start? I syphoned the fuel and replaced it and charged the batteries. Not sure where to start. Please, any help would be appreciated. Anyone on here from Ontario or Quebec?

Jet boats will not have as much hole shot/get up and go compared to a typical prop boat so if your coming from one of those there is a slight difference. Having said that it shouldn't be anything drastic. Does it seem like the engine is reving up and working normally based on how much throttle you give it? If so it sounds like your pump is the culprit and either you've got some proposing going on, your reverse gate may not be fully open, or you've got a wear ring type issue not allowing for enough water pressure to be forced out the back of the jet. Hope this helps you troubleshoot things.
