I agree with all you said here. I really need a seat cushion as I'm pushing the weight limit and it's not comfy for me to sit so low, but if I go any higher, this may feel way too tippy. If you are like me and are way more comfortable in a higher sitting position, you'll have to figure out if you can handle stability issues. I've seen another video where the kayakers do use a marine square cushion and didn't mention any issues. I don't know if a person's size matters here; I'll have to follow up once I try paddling this skinny thing with a higher seat cushion.

I wouldn’t want to even try a higher seat pad on this one. I’m right at the weight limit to start with. After paddling it several hours I’m comfortable in it and don’t feel like it’s constantly about to tip. The seat is equally uncomfortable as almost every other kayak seat out there if your butt is planted in it for a few hours. I find lifting myself up and shifting an inch or 2 on the seat every half hour helps.

regarding pain in the butt, a black piece of latex rubber should be helpful. It doesn’t has to be thick, just eases pressure around you butt bones a bit? I used to have a rectangular piece in a boat

awesome review 👍🏽 I wondering, what is your weight? Not sure if I have to get the 473 for my 300lb and 6’8 🙃 ?

I'm a bit over 250 lbs and just a little under 6'. I don't think you will fit. I have the foot rests all the way forward most of the time to be comfortable. Adding another 4 or 5 inches of legs probably won't work with those. You could use the rope, pvc pipe, and pipe insulation padding to make a more forward footrest tied to the d-rings. I feel like I'm right at the edge weight-wise, where the kayak is still stable enough to paddle. I think another 50 lbs will make it too unstable to use.

@@greatlakesbikeskiboatthat is the feedback I was looking for! That is my concern, that it would lay too deep in the water. All those lighter sale staff just look at 250 and 250 extra load capacity, and have never tried it. I was standing in front of a BaySports Air Glider 473, found it far too long and heavy for a camper home. So looking for a 410 boat now, or shall I get the 473 🤔 I don’t know

@@chrigdichein my friend who is 6;6 and 325 lbs has to get a tandem anytime he rents a kayak because almost every solo kayak sits way too low with him in it. The 473RL might work for your weight depending on how you can get the seat positioned with the footrests. I wouldn't even try a 393RL for you though.
