After much research and speaking with a qualified mechanic I share with you the proper way to Seafoam your carburetor/s to ensure the best cleaning possible in an effort to avoid the hassle and expense of removing, breaking down, re-assembling and having to synchronize your motorcycle carburetors.

I add one ounce per gal in all my carbureted motorcycles and also when I store them over the winter. I fill the tank, add Seafoam and run engine to make sure it gets into the carbs then shut off. Next spring they start right up, no problems. I do this for my lawn tractor as well. Great product.

It didn't smoke that I could tell. I've got a six carb rack to break down into its basic parts because I let my bike sit too long. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for this video. Have an 01 FZ-1 that I forgot to shut off the fuel/drain the carbs, it idled rough and the low throttle performance would stumble super badly. I knew the pilot jets were gunked up, but removing the quad carb setup on that bike is an utter nightmare, as is bench synching them after taking them apart. I filled it with fresh gas, drained the bowls, filled them with seafoam, tried to start it (it wouldn't start on the seafoam alone) and let it sit 24hrs, drained the seafoam, filled the carbs with a mix of 20:1 gas/seafoam, ran it dry, filled it with seafoam once more, let it sit 24hrs, drained, ran about 400ml of gas mixed with 20ml of seafoam through the carbs, hooked it back up to the tank and it runs like a top! You saved me hours of work or a thousand dollar job. Tried it on my 78 honda 400 twin at the same time (I just brainfartedand thought I winterized them both), but that bike's gas had turned to pure varnish and it wasn't drawing anything through the carbs, so even though a 24hr soak in seafoam came out piss yellow, another 24hrs came out clean but whatever is up in the jets is completely obstructing them, so seafoam can't get in there to clean. So if the bike will start and idle, this trick is amazing. If the carbs are solid varnish, not so much.

Mine sat for a few months over winter, first ride out was bogging and jumping like a kangaroo. Drained fuel tank, replaced with premium fuel and changed inline fuel filter, and changed air filter and plugs to new ones. Still ran like crap so warmed up bike, opened up to see carb intake and gently poured seafoam into carbs while running until she wanted to die and revved. Boat loads of white smoke, and repeated twice until she spluttered and suddenly as quick as that she idled perfectly. Put everything back together and went for ride, she was back to her former self and responsive once again. Put 60ml in 15 litres of fuel tank and ran it hard down motorway. Result in massive difference and is now part of my routine maintenance to pour into carbs each start of riding season, plus run it in tank every other full tank.

Great video, Thanks!, I have a Yamaha Road Star 1600 "single carb" clogged pilot jet, I have full can of sea foam in the tank with two gallons of super, waited 1 day, still spits a bit on idle, day 2 not as much, so im gonna try filling the bowl an let it sit for two days an see how that goes!, I have a vance & Hines exhaust and larger jets so they should clear out easier! > Thx again! > I'll leave an update later on! ;o)

Wow here I am reporting in, in July 2022. I see you are working with a Honda 750 or 900. I wanted to share how I injected carb parts cleaner into the float Bowls of two of my carbs on my 79 Honda 750 via their drains. In two cases: Carb No 4 - After using seafoam in the tank, some gunk clogged the float valve causing her to overflow. Carb No 1 - Recently Back firing during idle. In both cases, draining the respective bowl, and then under pressure spray carb cleaner solvent directly into their float bowls via their drain outlets, in moments the issue was corrected -

Carburetor cleaner and a tiny bit of elbow grease works perfectly. If I use Seafoam for anything, it's injectors and carbon buildup in the motor.

Will it work on bike that will only start with gas rag over the intake
@colinmartin9797
@colinmartin9797 4 жыл бұрын
Probably not - the carb jets can't be completely obstructed, it has to be able to pull gas up into the jets for the seafoam to clean them. My 78 Honda was like you describe - only started/ran on starter fluid. This trick didn't work, but it worked astoundingly on my 01 fz1 that idled rough and stumbled hard at low throttle.
