CRC throttle body cleaner. Unbolt your throttle body from the intake (4 bolts and one vacuum hose with a clip, plus the electrical connector) and clean the front AND backside of the blade with the spray and a rag. While doing this, have fuse 10 and fuse 28 in the underhood fuse box pulled, these are for the PCM. Once you've got the carbon off the TB put it back on and pop the fuses back in, and fire it up. PCM will now relearn the clean TB idle position and your idle will be smooth. This is the correct procedure for this service, I owned quite a few envoys and trailblazers with the 4.2, they're great engines

I know seafoam works. I say use it once, then after that use Marvel mystery oil in the gas after that. Then also use motorcote in the oil. I have this same vehicle just just the extended version. It has been 100k miles using the mmo and motorcote and have never needed to use seafoam. I check my throttle body every 6 months and it's perfectly clean. I have 193k miles on mine and the check engine light hasn't been on and no engine parts have been replaced. I like to prevent problems so they never happen. So anyone who is wondering how to keep an engine clean this is how I do it.

@@iLouieTube If your cars engine was super dirty MMO probably broke stuff up and you will just keep at it, it should all be fine in a while. Just like how seafoam makes your car smoke and run kinda bad for a while once it cleans and gets worked out your car will run great. I've used MMO in all 4 of my cars for the last 10 years. Also in my weed Wacker, lawn mower and all motorized things. If you put too much in it can do that to your car. My dad's old Chevy with 220k miles ran a little rough. We used MMO in it for 2 tanks and it ran great after that. If you still have some MMO left I would follow the directions for adding to fuel and keep at it. I'll bet it will clear up.

@@4673962 i understand exactly how cleaners work I've used many different ones over the years to keep my cars emissions really low and the always pass inspections, I use them to keep everything cleaner and most important the Catylic converter as clean as possible however the MMO made my car run rough on several tank fills, it caused alot of problems for my car where as using BG44K for many years had solved alot of hesitation issues, idle issues so on an so forth, I also recommend cataclean, in my personal experience MMO was pretty poor for a cleaner and caused issues, BG44k is the best about and I'd put cataclean in second.

@@iLouieTube Gotcha, use what works for your car. I use MMO and have not had to use anything else because it keeps everything clean. It seems to not let carbon build up. I tried a bunch of stuff and settled on MMO. I like it cuz it WAS cheaper than other additives/cleaners. It was easy to use. It can be used in gas, oil, diesel and as a lubricant. In short I guess, I use it as a maintenance/ prevention tool and seems to work for all my stuff, including all my air tools, knives and mechanical things. Glad what you do works for you.
@1985cjjeeper
@1985cjjeeper Жыл бұрын
Your catalytic converter will fail early from all those additives. I saw it over and over as an auto tech. Gasoline alone has plenty of additives. I understand the warm fuzzy feeling from the snake oil, I get how good MMO (atf with more additives, sorry to spoil the mystery) smells. But lay off from now on. This cat is probably not gonna make it even if you stop now, but the next one will be fine.

Thing is, it may work on a rough idle in A certain situation... But there's more than one situation that can cause a rough idle. Even some may consider bad motor mounts causing a vibration throughout the entire vehicle to be an idle situation (of course that's only some folks)... Seafoam is great for cleaning carbon deposits and "sort of" cleaning O2 sensors. Otherwise, it's not the "be all, fix all" product.

Nice..I did this to a 2006 Wrangler that idled so bad the dashboard vibrated. The Seafoam did ok. However, I had big success with the Deep Creep from the same company. Used it the same way, I was even able to clean the idle air valve. I put the whole can in through the intake even after the engine stalled. I waited 45 minutes, and it did not want to start at first. But when it did, it was hitting on 2 cylinders at first. After it stabilized, I took it out and spanked it. Rough at first, then after 5 miles, it was blowing blue and black smoke, then all of a sudden the power was back, no smoke acceleration was like the day I first got it. Power to spare.

You can use it to clean the throttle body without the engine running. As a mechanic of 27+ years I don't use it unless the engine is off. Many products are like this... Seafoam is just the name brand OG. However, to save some dollars get the SuperTech version and put a can in your gas tank, a can in your crankcase, and a can in the brake booster (same as throttle body basically) and it'll clean EVERYTHING thoroughly. Same process as this. Except then change your oil in aboutr 200-300 miles. If you've got bad oil burning, try soaking the piston heads themselves with it a few times a day by opening up the spark plug wells and pouring about a half cup per cylinder once in morning, noon, and night. Then run it the next morning. It'll fix those rings!

The GM direct injection engines have carbon buildup issues due to the EGR valve dumping oily exhaust gas back into the intake. In normal fuel injection engines the injectors spray upstream of the valves and the gasoline largely dissolves the oily residue but in the GDI engines that stuff hardens up into carbon deposits on the backs of the valves and eventually causes performance issues. There is a GM TSB about this where they will fog a Delco branded product into the intake while the engine is running to do what this clip is showing being done with the sea foam.

Are used to have a 04 v6 Chevy trailblazer and it was one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. With that being said I had a couple issues with it of the coils burning out on it or just a non-functioning properly coil so if you have rough idle issues just go for the coils I know they’re expensive but you’re gonna need them eventually anyway believe me. The street six motor is a beast by the way and I love it

That's cool I have the same trailblazer to and it's got its fair share of rascals that go wrong at the time to time it keeps throwing a p0300 I think it's the ignition coil packs I replace the spark plugs I got tired of my catalytic converter getting plugged up so I said screw it and chopped a sucker off and also no oxygen sensors

Just did this on my 2013 Charger SE with 195xxx miles. Had done an engine flush about two months ago and even with that, I had HUGE PLUMES of smoke come out after the hot soak. Drove it around “spirited” and at first, it kind of bogged down and even flashed the check engine light but went away right after it blew out some nasty carbon. I live somewhat in the country so not a lot of people on this backroad which was a good thing because I smoked it out! lol literally. Throttle response is better. The get up and go off the line is much more fluid. Still a little bit of a rough idle but not a ton but for a vehicle with nearly 200k, I wouldn’t expect any less. Seafoam definitely worked!

Personally, I recommend pulling out and cleaning injectors. My v6 ranger used to idle super rough and started hard after long drives until I cleaned and rebuilt the fuel injectors. Now it starts and runs great all the time. I ran many cans of seafoam through that ranger and they would make a slight difference but it's just a bandaid on the bigger problem. Just my 2 cents.

It worked for me too after buying plugs purge valve pcv valve coils and changing motor mounts 3 times I have an elantra and it had a shaky idle it was driving me nuts then I tried the Lucas gdi cleaner and my car isn't gdi. Oh I also cleaned the throttle body till you could eat off it but nothing did it but seafoam. I had so much smoke the police came because they thought my car was on fire then when it stopped smoking I drove it. Then once I got in a safe place and drove a little aggressive and when I did another cloud a block long came out of my exhaust. Seafom is awesome don't care how many times scotty Kilmer says it's for outboard motors it works on car engines too I promise

You run the engine to hot up. Idling the engine. Spray the seafood before the throttle plate until the engine dies out. Open the intake boot at throttle b9dy, Keep spraying little more before throttle plate and fill up whole throttle and inside the plenum. Put the intake hose back and wait over night and let the sea foam work. Next day start up and drive to clear out the cleaner. Cold exhaust won't damage the cat. Your idle will be very smooth. Intake valves all clean.
