Seagull 1963 Moonphase Bronze - The Updated Icon, should you pounce?

Was happy to find a review of this new Seagull 1963. One of the most interesting and fun releases of theirs. I quite like the blue moonphase .. breaks it up a little, draws the eye, just a little more bold. This is exactly the kind of product from China we should embrace … great value, interesting history, classic design, and embraces where it comes from rather than trying to hide it.

A very handsome piece. I'm very tempted but this is something I'd need to try on first in person. Love the close up shots man. The Red Star does not bother me at all.

Thanks for the review. To make it clear, is this a replica of the original Seagull 1963 watch?

@CagdasONEN The movement is made in the same factory (reportedly) but not sourced from Seagull the brand. It’s a question of definition and in my opinion, considering the machinery is originally Swiss I think it’s a tall order to be too pedantic here….but there are forums to argue at 😄 one thing is for sure, the bronze, dial, moon complication and crystal are all completely new

I was one that pounced. I had been looking the bronze Zelos Aurora, until I saw a review of this watch and purchased immediately. I think the color combination makes this a potential strap monster. I did buy the bronze Zelos bracelet with straight end links, but feel it may be a bit too modern, for this vintage styled watch. Having experienced both the bronze Aurora, and 1963 which do you feel is the better watch?

Nice to hear! I think the two mentioned are so widely different. This one has a lot of interesting heritage with a fun take on a classic, the Zelos is experimental and incredibly fun. If I could own just one bronze watch, it would be my own Oris Big crown pilot (also on my channel) but I think there’s room in any collection for all three ….sorry, unhelpful answer!

​@@EsbjornWristwatchReviewsThanks for the answer. I understand it being tough, with the two being so dissimilar. I have owned many Zelos watches, but never a watch with the st19 movement. I knew if I were to purchase one, I would want it to be from a quality source. There a are so many versions on Aliexpress it is hard to tell which are good. Oris are a awesome brand, and I regret selling my gen 1 blue Aquis. The prices have skyrocketed since I purchased it. Love the channel.

The bronze, green, white, red, blue are an odd bunch. But I think the design is for people that are bored with the ordinary watches that often share similar design elements and colors.
