Seaham SEA GLASS Multis! Where the sea glass REALLY comes from (it’s not what you’ve been told!)

born and bred sunderland lad here,when i was a bairn there was loads sea glass on roker and seaburn beach stones and fossils we never thought much of it at the time,im sure some still wash up in places,check out sunderland glasswork museum ,sunderland was famous for its glass and ship building and coal mining,like many northeast places

We were in Seaham a few days ago, Mainly walking our Beagle Monty. This time we went to Blast beach. Less glass to find, but the glass you do find is usually larger than Seaham Hall beach, plus, less people go there for some reason. Probably due to access, I doubt there is any disabled access at all. Most of the glass was one colour, but they were a bit bigger! I found something that looks like a bottle stopper. How ever, a lot of teens go down there to drink and make barbeques, so some of the glass you find is actually new....lol

Blast beach is lovely I just haven’t filmed there yet! Not much chance of Multis but I love the big aquas! Glad you had a good time

Randomly your videos showed up on my recommendations a few days ago, i had no idea sea glass was a thing or that seaham was some kind of mecca for it till i watched few videos a couple days ago. despite living only 10 minutes away from seaham, but i was enjoying a walk along the beach today watching the dolphins hunt in the shallows and got talking to an old chap walking his dog, i mention i had just discover sea glass, and he literally gave the same explanation

We are coming to Seaham in May of 2024. Any tips or advice you can share about what to take with me and places to eat? I am so excited to go there and find my first seaglass!

Absolutely take a couple of rakes with you - the shingle can be so tough on your hands! I have a Seaham playlist so you can watch my hunts there. I’d say just manage your expectations- the Multis are HARD to find. They’re not just laying everywhere and there’s lots of competition with people coming away disappointed. My tip is try and get there early as possible to beat the crowd and also find out the tide times, stick a pair of wellies on and walk the shallows. You’ll grab stuff then as it gets dropped off by the waves!

Fortunately, I live about 45 mins away. Only usually visit when looking for colour. I find other sea glass else where. Do you use baby oil, etc, to get the best look or leave as is frosted? Great channel, not as easy as it looks, making content 😊

Yes I do! Clean with dish soap and water then polish with baby oil 😊

@Leslye Schoenhuth Leave if that's your thing. However, to get the colour showing at its best oils need to be used. Suppose it depends on what you're using for. I don't oil everything, just my special pieces.
