Congress is responsible for creating the laws in our country. They try to blame Biden, but Republicans had the opportunity to pass the bipartisan immigration bill which would have been a comprehensive immigration bill. The executive branch is the implementation branch, it is not supposed to create the laws, it is supposed to create the rules by which we implement the law created in Congress. By forcing the executive branch, aka the president, to use executive order, they have transferred their job duty and responsibilities into a different branch of government altogether. This is their way of saying we want to blame the executive while getting paid and not doing our job. This is Congress' job. Blame republicans and congress for this failure. An executive is only a temporary measure and Biden has been asking congress to pass reform. Hold your legislative representatives accountable.

I am on H1B visa. Came to US 12 yrs back to study MBA after studying engineering in India. Been working in tech and paying taxes. It will take me (being and Indian) more than 10 yrs to get a green card, contingent upon that I am not kicked out of the US. How do I avoid getting kicked out of the US? I MUST secure a new job (apply, get through interview, get an offer and employer files for new H1B visa) within 60 days if I am laid off or fired. To avoid being fired, I have to keep up with loads of bullshit at workplace, swallow the pride, bear the insults and the list is endless. If I loose job I have to find an employer who is willing to apply for my new H1B visa. Willingness of employers to sponsor H1B visa change from time to time, it is directly related with the then current political party's immigration policies. Would I have a secure, respectable and stable career and life if I leave the US to re-enter as an illegal at California border?
